Whether you are managing a chronic condition or exploring a new clinical trial, healthcare decisions shouldn't happen in a vacuum. The most confident choices are made when we feel backed by the people who truly know us.

At Kalo, clinical research is designed to be an inclusive, collaborative process—not just for you, but for your support system. When we share our health journeys with loved ones, we open the door to perspectives and practical solutions we might not have considered on our own.

As you think about your healthcare options, consider how they look through the lens of your whole life:

✨ Will the appointment schedule fit your work flexibility?
✨ Do you have a plan for family or caregiving duties?
✨ Do you have the transit support you need to get to the clinic?

The right path isn’t the one someone else would choose for you—it’s the one that aligns with your lifestyle, your family, and your future. Read our full guide in our latest blog on how to build a trusted support network for your health decisions.

🌺 It was a HOT one out there at City Center Park yesterday in Orem Utah alohafestutah — but an absolutely beautiful day surrounded by ʻohana, friends, and this incredible community. Live entertainment, good food, kids running around our booth to get tattoos… it was fun sharing information about the part we play in developing medicine. 💊

And a moment we won’t forget: the one and only Iam Tongi Iam Tongi signed our Kalo sign. 🖊️ What a humble, talented soul — his voice carries home wherever he goes. To have him leave his mark on ours meant more than words can say.

This is why we show up. Kalo isn’t just about research — it’s about people, culture, and making sure our communities are seen, respected, and cared for. Days like this remind us exactly who we do it for.

Mahalo to everyone who stopped by, shared a smile, and lived aloha with us.

Hoʻolōkahi. Hoʻokūpaʻa. Hoʻoholomua. Unity. Steadfastness. Forward movement. 🌱

This week, Kalo had the honor of being present at the 25th Annual Native Hawaiian Convention — and we’re still holding the gratitude close.

We came to listen. To learn. To stand with a community carrying its traditions forward and shaping the conversations that will define Hawaiʻi’s future. And we came with a belief that lives at the heart of everything we do: research should reflect the people it’s meant to serve — and Hawaiians deserve a voice in the future of medicine.

For too long, the treatments people rely on were tested on populations that didn’t look like them. We’re here to help change that. Being welcomed into this space — surrounded by culture, connection, and kūpuna wisdom — is a reminder of why representation in research matters, and who it’s for.

Mahalo to the Hawaiian Council Hawaiian Council, and to everyone who made us feel at home. 🌺

In gratitude, we thrive. 🤙

Medicine is personal, and the research behind it should be too. At Kalo, we are dedicated to making sure our Salt Lake City neighborhoods are fully represented in the clinical trials shaping tomorrow's healthcare.

So many of our neighbors miss out on the benefits of clinical research simply because they don't know these studies exist. When you refer a friend or loved one, you help bridge that gap and ensure our community's voice is heard.

To show our deep appreciation for your partnership, you’ll receive $50 as a thank you for every referral who successfully enrolls in a study.

Let's build a healthier future together. Learn more and make a referral today!

Health is an interconnected journey. From traditional roots to modern medicine, true healing has always been about community. Yet, when over 75% of clinical trial participants come from a single demographic, it leaves major gaps in how treatments work for everyone else.

At Kalo, we are actively closing that gap by bringing clinical research directly to our communities. But true access starts with giving you the power to ask questions without hesitation.

When considering a clinical trial, the conversation should extend far beyond "Will this treatment work?" It needs to address the practical reality of your daily routine.

In our latest blog, we pull back the curtain on the 4 pillars of a confident decision:

1️⃣ The Care Plan: Collaborating with your current doctor to see where a study fits.
2️⃣ The Trade-Offs: Weighing the personal benefits against daily routine changes.
3️⃣ The Practical Side: Tackling real life—work schedules, family duties, and transportation.
4️⃣ The Financial Picture: Ensuring complete transparency about study-provided care.

The right trial isn't just one you're eligible for; it's the one that makes sense for you.

When you or a loved one are managing a health condition, reaching a treatment plateau can bring you to an unexpected crossroads. For many families, this is when the idea of a clinical trial comes up.

It is incredibly common to feel hesitant or confused. But deciding whether clinical research is right for you is a personal choice. The best decision is one that fits your health goals, priorities, and everyday life.

We are excited to launch a new 4-part clinical research educational blog series to provide you with everything you need to know.

Our goal is to answer common questions and provide clear, trustworthy information about how clinical research works. So you can make choices with confidence.

In Part 1, we look at the fundamentals:
👉 How trials move through safety phases before reaching pharmacies.
👉 The different types of research (it’s not just taking a new pill!).
👉 Why representation is critical—and why Kalo places clinics directly inside real, diverse communities to bridge the gap.

At Kalo, we operate under a simple philosophy: data is powerful, but people always come first. We don't require health insurance, and study-related care is provided at no cost.

Read the full blog to understand your options, and stay tuned for Part 2, where we’ll give you a practical checklist of questions to ask a research team!
