🚨NEW & FREE RESOURCE FOR HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS🚨

One of the hardest parts of perinatal mental health is recognizing when intrusive thoughts are postpartum OCD/anxiety… and when they may actually be postpartum psychosis, a psychiatric emergency.

That distinction can quite literally save lives.

At Bloom Women’s Wellness, we wanted to create something that was:
✔️ Simple.
✔️ Practical.
✔️ Evidence-informed.
✔️ Easy to reference in the middle of a busy shift, appointment, or consultation.

So we created our Postpartum Psychosis Rapid Recognition Tool: a one-page guide designed specifically for:

🩺 Healthcare providers
🏥 Hospital staff
🤱 OB/GYN & maternal health teams
👶 Pediatric providers
🩷 Therapists & social workers
🚑 Anyone on the front lines caring for pregnant and postpartum women

Inside you’ll find:
• Key questions to help differentiate postpartum OCD/anxiety from postpartum psychosis
• Common symptoms and red flags
• Reality-testing indicators
• Safety assessment prompts
• Green, yellow, and red light guidance
• Warning signs for partners and family members

Our hope is that this becomes one of those resources you print, keep at your desk, save in your office, or reference during difficult conversations.

Because when providers have the right tools, families get the right care—faster.

💗 This resource is completely FREE and available now on the Resources page of the Bloom Women’s Wellness website. Download it, share it with your team, and use it to help increase awareness and early recognition.

If you know someone working in maternal health, labor & delivery, postpartum, pediatrics, primary care, emergency medicine, therapy, or community health, please share this with them. The more people who recognize the signs, the more lives we can impact.

Great parenting insight!

Great parenting insight!

Our automatic default when a child breaks a rule is to look for something to confiscate. We strip away their privileges, ground them from their activities, or take away their favorite things, convinced that if they suffer enough discomfort, they will magically learn how to act better next time.

But a lack of consequence is rarely the reason a child messes up. A lack of capability is.

When you only focus on what you can take away, you punish the symptom without ever addressing the root cause. If a child unravels because they don’t know how to handle a massive wave of frustration, taking away their screen time doesn't teach them emotional regulation.

It just leaves them exactly as unequipped as they were before, only now they are also harboring resentment.

Real correction isn't about deprivation. It is about education.

The next time a boundary is crossed, shift your focus from punishment to preparation. Look at the mess and ask yourself what tool your child was missing in that moment.

Do they need clearer, simpler instructions because they were overwhelmed? Do they need a firmer, predictable boundary so they know exactly where the wall is? Or do they simply need the literal words to say, "I am angry," instead of having to use their behavior to scream it at you?

Shift your energy into building their skills rather than managing their penalties — because a child who is actually equipped to handle a hard moment will never need to rely on a bad choice to get through it. ❤️

Caring for others is admirable — but not at the expense of your own well-being. Your energy, peace, and boundaries matter just as much as anyone else’s.

Start small:
• Say no when you need to.
• Speak up respectfully.
• Protect your time and energy.

What’s one small “no” you can give today to take care of yourself?

06/23/2026

True healing often involves a combination of spiritual wisdom, community support, and professional guidance.

By embracing these resources, we open ourselves up to the full spectrum of healing God offers us. You wouldn’t tell someone with a broken leg to “pray about it” instead of seeing a doctor. Don’t dismiss professional mental health support as unnecessary... even for people of faith.

Your journey toward emotional and spiritual health matters. Not just for your own well-being, but for your ability to live out your calling and positively impact those around you.

Take that first step today, and trust that God will meet you on the path of integrated healing.
