Happy S*x Ed for All Month!

What does s*x education actually teach?
Hint: it’s more than just "the talk." It’s learning:
✅ how to set boundaries
✅ how to respect others
✅ how to spot misinformation
✅ how to have healthy relationships
✅ how to navigate puberty, identity, and growing up

📣 All young people have the right to the information and skills they need to protect their health. They deserve age-appropriate, medically accurate information, and answers to their questions about s*x and relationships, free of shame and stigma, no matter who they are or where they live. *xEdForAll

DYK? On May 9, 1960, the FDA approved the first oral contraceptive pill: Enovid-10. That approval was a huge step forward for increased contraceptive access.

Over 60 years later, on July 13, 2023, the FDA approved Opill for OTC, non-prescription use. The release of Opill shows how far we have come, but many people still don't know they can get birth control pills OTC.

Today is a chance to remind your communities that they can access safe, effective birth control without a prescription. You can also access Opill for FREE by visiting our vending machine outside of the Polk County Health Department.

It's World Ovarian Cancer Day, and we're here to spread awareness.

Ovarian cancer is often hard to detect in the early stages, but there are signs: persistent bloating, pelvic or abdominal pain, feeling full quickly, and changes in urinary habits. When something feels off and doesn’t go away, it’s worth checking out.

Early detection can make a difference, and awareness matters. Know your family history, pay attention to your body, and don’t hesitate to speak up or seek a second opinion if needed.

Want to learn more? Find a Title X clinic near you by visiting fpcouncil.org/find-a-clinic/ and talk to your provider about symptoms of ovarian cancer.
