No medical advice No matter what the health problem, don’t surrender to a life of pain and misery until you see us. There is hope! Our clinics use The Wellness Way approach to assess and treat your health care concerns. Perhaps you have experienced

being examined by a doctor, having blood tests done, x-rays or other diagnostic tests taken, only for your doctor to report back that all your tests are normal. Yet you know that there is something wrong! Unfortunately, this experience is all too common. Most physicians are trained to look only in specific places for the answers, using the same familiar labs or diagnostic tests. Yet, many causes of illness cannot be found in these places. The usual tests do not look for food allergies, hidden infections, environmental toxins, mold exposures, nutritional deficiencies and metabolic imbalances. We use a variety of innovative testing techniques and procedures to help our patients prevent illness and recover from many chronic and difficult to treat conditions. Our clinicians are highly skilled in evaluating and assessing chronic problems such as fibromyalgia, fatigue syndromes, autoimmune diseases, inflammatory disorders, mood and behavior disorders, memory problems, heart disease, diabetes, hormonal imbalances, autism, and other chronic, complex conditions. When it comes to your health and wellness, we believe that your journey begins here! https://westdesmoinesia.thewellnessway.com/

We don’t order testing just to do it! It gives us great insight about the functionality of someone and what’s areas we need to focus on! Before we recommend anything though, I try to ask myself some questions beforehand…

1. “Will this test change what we do next?”
If the answer won’t affect treatment, lifestyle recommendations, monitoring, or referrals, the test may not be justified.

2. “Is this the right timing for the test?”
Hormones, cortisol, glucose, inflammatory markers, iron studies, and even thyroid markers can shift based on sleep, stress, illness, menstrual cycle, fasting status, exercise, and medications. Poor timing creates misleading data.

3. “What problem are we actually trying to solve?”
Are you screening, confirming a suspicion, tracking progress, ruling something out, or giving reassurance? Testing without a clear clinical question often leads to overtesting and confusing results.

We don’t order testing just to look comprehensive, we do it be comprehensive and make better decisions!

Having liquid bowel movements for over a year is no way to live. This is one of the worst tests I’ve ever seen!

What are your symptoms telling you? If you have Hashimoto’s, it can look different in what your body is actually saying.

05/27/2026

If you’ve been told that your thyroid antibodies are the only thing that matters, you’ve been mislead. High inflammation can drive an increase in antibody production and a host of other problems. Digging in to potential immune system and inflammatory triggers is the first step in getting better!

Comment “Hashimotos” and we’ll send you more information on how to get testing done.

Sometimes Hashimoto’s looks nothing like what you’d expect.

1. Anxiety + Panic Attacks
Not just fatigue. Many people feel overstimulated, shaky, panicky, or “on edge” — especially during autoimmune flares.

2. Feeling “Wired but Exhausted”
You’re tired all day… but can’t relax at night. Adrenal stress, inflammation, blood sugar swings, and thyroid imbalance can all contribute.

3. Random Tingling or Numbness
Hands, feet, face, or legs may tingle even when scans are normal. Often linked with inflammation, B12 issues, or nerve irritation.

4. High Cholesterol Despite Eating Healthy
One of the most overlooked signs. Low thyroid function can slow LDL clearance even in people with a clean diet and regular exercise.

5. Feeling Cold All the Time
Cold hands, cold feet, freezing in rooms everyone else says are comfortable — because thyroid hormones help regulate body temperature and metabolism.

Common labs people often investigate alongside thyroid markers:

* TSH
* Free T4
* Free T3
* TPO antibodies
* Thyroglobulin antibodies
* Ferritin
* B12/folate
* Vitamin D
* Selenium/zinc
* CRP or homocysteine

If your labs are ‘normal’ but you still feel awful… it might not be in your head.

If I wasn’t afraid to offend you, this is what I would tell you about your health…

🍷 Even “moderate” drinking can worsen sleep quality, inflammation, blood sugar control, anxiety, liver function, and recovery.

💊 Endless supplements can become a substitute for behavior change. A person may know every biomarker but still avoid consistent basics: sleep, movement, protein, hydration, fiber, stress management, relationships, and limiting processed foods.

🤦🏻‍♂️ Leaving toxic relationships, reducing work stress, sleeping more, and changing lifestyle patterns can change things in a big way.

🔥 Headaches, fatigue, irritability, and dizziness are not always evidence that toxins are “leaving the body.”

🏃 Training intensely 6–7 days a week while under-eating and under-sleeping is praised as discipline, even when hormones, mood, libido, recovery, and immune function are suffering.

What are some things I left out? Comment below with things you would say if you weren’t afraid of offending someone.
