Colombo, DNP, MHA, RN, was proud to join Governor Maura Healey at Worcester State University (WSU) as state leaders highlighted the Health Care Affordability Working Group's recommendations to strengthen Massachusetts' healthcare system.

Yara Halasa-Rappel, DMD, PhD, ForHealth Consulting research and evaluation consultant, had her study, “Oral Health and Economic Impact of the Special Olympics Special Smiles Screening and Referral Program: A Decision-Analytical Evaluation,” published online in the Journal of the American Dental Association. https://brnw.ch/21x4z8R

The study evaluates the oral health and economic impact of the Special Olympics Special Smiles screening and referral program for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Yara and her co-authors found that the program was associated with increased dental care use, reductions in untreated oral disease, and net cost savings.

At All Rise’s recent Annual Conference, Rise26, Chelsea Thomson of our Justice & Health Equity team presented on the work that the Middlesex County Restoration Center Commission undertook to develop the Center’s model. This included years of collaboration across partners to identify community-based services that better support those experiencing a behavioral health crisis, helping avoid visits to the emergency department or jail.

Last week, Jay Prosser, executive director of the Massachusetts Nursing Council on Workforce Sustainability, part of ForHealth Consulting, was a panelist at the recent Massachusetts Health and Hospital Association (MHA) Workforce Summit. The Summit addressed the urgent challenges facing our healthcare workforce and shared ideas, insights, and solutions for the road ahead.
