The body cannot repair what it does not have material to rebuild.

Protein:
* Drives muscle protein synthesis.
* Supports tissue repair.
* Insufficient protein impairs adaptation.

Carbohydrates:
* Replenish glycogen.
* Support high-intensity performance.
* Preserve power output.

Calories:
* Chronic energy deficit suppresses recovery.
* Low energy availability increases injury risk.
* Under-fueling is common in tactical populations trying to stay lean.

Hydration:
* Affects plasma volume.
* Impacts cardiovascular strain.
* Influences cognitive performance.

Video from our Practical Performance Project (P3) that combines fitness, shooting, mental performance, and nutrition.

How to Perform
• Start from a ready position
• Build the full grip at the chest
• Complete the grip before extension
• Drive the gun directly to your visual focus point

What to Assess (Every Rep)

☐ Was the grip fully completed at presentation or before?
☐ Did the sight arrive where I was looking?
☐ Did I need to correct the sight at extension?
☐ Did adjusting support-hand pressure improve consistency?

Muscle relaxation and visualization are helpful mental performance strategies to use in your training.

Here is a clip from a past Practical Performance Project call with a cop where Bella (Bella Johnson MS, CMPC, ATC) works with us to maximize mental performance tools for dry fire and fi****ms training.

Bella shares how you can fight the tension we often build up in shooting and training that makes us rigid or put too much input into the gun. This clip also touches on the importance of visualization that can be utilized in training, stage preparation, and other pre-performance prep.

Client turned friend and mentor -

As a retired first responder and current competitive shooter, I turned to Bell Performance Therapy to build a program tailored to my unique needs. I wanted to stay competitive despite being older than most of my competitors and living with a hip replacement. For years, I dealt with daily pain, limited mobility, and compromised movement patterns.

Within just six weeks of working with Bell Performance Therapy, I began noticing positive changes. I could spend a full day at a competition without pain. By eight weeks, my movement patterns, balance, stability, and explosiveness were being restored. Now, three months into their programming, I’m moving in ways I haven’t been able to in decades.

I’m stronger than I’ve been in 20 years. I can compete with people half my age because of the mobility, strength, explosiveness, balance, and stability Bell Performance Therapy has given me. Their programming isn’t one-size-fits-all — it’s individualized to your body, your goals, and your lifestyle.

I cannot speak highly enough of the results. If you’re military, law enforcement, a first responder, a tactical athlete, or simply someone who wants to reach the highest level of fitness, agility, and health of your life — do yourself a favor and book a consultation.

For first responders, this type of training should be mandatory. The fitness, strength, power, and agility you gain could save your life or the life of a teammate.

Trigger Control at Speed

Here is a drill you will find in our intro to dry fire and law enforcement agency fitness/dryfire programming.

The goal is to maintain a well connected grip, execute a straight/rapid trigger pull, and be AWARE of your sight behavior to inform the quality of the rep. You should try to complete a full trigger press and reset before the beep ends.

Successful reps require:
- Maintained grip pressures for all reps
- Must ASSESS every rep
- Use dot behavior to inform rep quality
- Rep initiated and finished within the duration of the beep

Your forearms should get tired. We recommend strings of 10-15 reps followed by a minute of rest.

Safety is necessary. In addition to the universal rules, create a safe dry fire space. Keep all live amm0 outside of the room you practice in.

Want to attend a free dry fire class? Join us on Saturdays- more information pinned to grid on profile.

*I am a student on the practical performance journey, I did not invent this. I was introduced to this drill by Josh Eldridge and Dustin “Derek” Mowery when I started. Plenty of other great demos on YT.*

Law enforcement is a profession that sees some of the highest rates of injury. I believe there’s a lot of change to be made that will require the individual, the agencies, and the culture to shift. It is happening now…

… but it takes time. While we are trying to aid in that shift, many officers need it NOW.

Comment “fix” to get access to a free performance and/or injury consult .

If you are amongst leadership and are looking for assistance in progressing agency health, wellness, and readiness…

Anaerobic endurance drives performance when intensity is high and recovery is limited.
It comes down to:
-How fast you can produce energy
-How well you tolerate fatigue
-How efficiently you recycle byproducts
This is trainable, but it needs to be done with intent.
If you want help applying it
