If you have a child coming into the office for a visit, you can bring a sibling to the office for a flu shot at the same time without having to make an appointment. If you make an appointment, it will save you time at registration. However, we are doing add-on siblings for flu shots.

August is national immunization awareness month, highlighting the critical importance of vaccination for people of all ages to prevent serious, life-threatening infectious diseases. This observance is even more critical as studies show a years-long erosion of childhood immunization rates and the country continues to battle its worst measles resurgence in 35 years.
At the same time, yet another study has been published in The Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal showing NO association between vaccination and autism. This study to joins the 31 primary research studies and 10 meta-analysis studies looking at millions of children to show NO link between autism and vaccination.

We have posted about e-bikes before. Injuries are more similar to motorcycle injuries than regular bike injuries. Also, biking is supposed to be exercise . . . .

E-bike crashes are now the leading cause of injury for school-aged children in emergency rooms. Some of these injuries are very similar to injuries seen in motorcycle crashes, like traumatic brain injuries, broken bones and internal chest or abdominal injuries. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends that children under the age of 12 should not ride e-bikes. Learn more about e-bike safety: https://bit.ly/3RSvmwF

Despite the executive order upending decades of sound recommendations regarding vaccines Step By Step Pediatrics will continue to follow the American Academy of Pediatrics and continue to work to protect children from vaccine preventable illnesses. The American Academy of Pediatrics President Dr. Andrew Racine said the executive order "spreads uncertainty, fear and confusion where there doesn’t need to be any." The claims made during the announcement, including that the combination shot MMR is "fatal", has no basis in fact or research.

Did your child struggle at school last year? Are you concerned that they may need additional support to be successful in the classroom? They may benefit from a 504 or an IEP. Although both provide support, they are different in their scope and the process of obtaining them. A 504 requires a diagnosis from the physician and an IEP requires psychoeducational testing through the school. Check out the article below for more information.
