According to Consumer Product Safety Commission, nearly half of fireworks injuries to children under age 5 are related to sparklers.

• Sparklers burn at an extremely high heat: 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit. That's hot enough to melt some metals!
• Sparks can ignite clothing on fire and cause eye injuries.
• Touching a lit sparkler to skin can result in third-degree burns.

Try This Instead: Wave a flag or glow stick instead of a sparkler!

SUMMER is HERE, which means POOL TIME! But before everyone jumps in, did you know that drowning is the leading cause of death in U.S. children in children ages 1-4? Teens and children with some medical conditions are also at higher risk of drowning. The American Association of Pediatrics just updated their Drowning Prevention Recommendations. Grass Pollen is Topping the Chart This Week! Allergens can cause all of us to feel a bit crummy. You can reduce the impact of pollen on your little ones with a few simple tips.

1) Keep doors and windows closed at home.
2) Wash your child's hands and face with soap and water when they come inside.
3) Avoid keeping dirty clothes that have been outside in your child's bedroom.
4) A bath before bed helps wash the pollen down the drain instead of spreading it on the bedding.

Here’s a tip that may not be top-of-mind for everyone: action figures, small plastic toys, and Legos can be sanitized in the dishwasher with a gentle cycle. Be sure to put the toys in a mesh bag or dishwasher basket to prevent pieces from falling into the bottom of the dishwasher.
