Here are some sunscreen myths that dermatologists hear all the time:
❌ You don't need sunscreen on cloudy days, in the winter, or indoors. The truth is that UV rays can still hit your skin in all of these conditions.
❌ People with dark skin tones don't need sunscreen. All skin tones are susceptible to sun damage, premature aging, pigmentary disorders, and skin cancer.
❌ Sunscreen causes cancer. Sunscreen prevents skin cancer and there is no credible evidence that it causes cancer. Benefits far outweigh the risks when it comes to sunscreen!
Keep that skin healthy and cancer-free by protecting yourself from the sun. And always make sure to get any suspicious spots checked by a board-certified dermatologist.
