Things that make you go hmmm 🤔

MRI studies have shown rotator cuff tears and shoulder “abnormalities” in MANY pain-free people.

In professional baseball pitchers, rotator cuff abnormalities were found in 21–52% of asymptomatic athletes.

Research has also shown:
• 26% of asymptomatic people had rotator cuff tears on MRI
• Over 50% of asymptomatic shoulders showed partial-thickness tears
• 78% of full-thickness tears identified were actually pain-free shoulders

So what does this mean?
Pain is more complicated than:
“My MRI showed a tear.”

Most shoulders all have bones, tendons, ligaments, muscles, and nerves.

Yet some hurt…
and some don’t.

Pain is not just structural.

Not just for performance.
Not just for looking good.

But for longevity, resilience, and quality of life.

As a PT and strength coach, I believe movement changes people physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Love seeing this message pushed to a bigger audience.

Pain is not always a damage signal.

Sometimes your nervous system becomes overprotective and starts associating certain lifts or positions with danger…even after the tissues have calmed down.

That’s why rehab is more than stretching and exercises.

It’s rebuilding confidence in movement again.

You are not fragile.
Your system is adaptable.

Comment SHOULDER if this sounds familiar.

Sometimes the mystery is not really a mystery.

Still got it.

Throwing with my nephews reminded me how much I miss playing team sports. But it also reminded me of something bigger:

Athleticism doesn’t just disappear because you get older.

It might be buried under busy schedules, old injuries, and years of not training the same way… but it can be re-tapped.

You may not move exactly like you did at 18. But that doesn’t mean your best days of moving well are behind you.

You’re getting older.
You’re not old.

Functional fitness, but make it motherhood.
Happy Mother’s Day!

Planks won’t fix your back pain.
And avoiding movement won’t either.

Low back pain is incredibly common—most active adults will deal with it at some point.
But what keeps people stuck isn’t just the pain… it’s the fear of making it worse.

So you rest.
You brace.
You move less.

And unfortunately your world slowly shrinks.

The evidence consistently shows that movement and progressive loading are key to getting back on track—not complete rest, not avoiding everything that feels uncomfortable.

Yes…calm it down when needed.
But then you have to rebuild.

Because your back isn’t fragile.

It’s underprepared.
Build capacity > chase pain relief
