Y’all. I am just in awe of my sweet clients who are responding to a big ask with so much tenderness for this family they do not even know. This is what true community looks like. I’m so grateful🩷🩷🩷

Some babes need lots of time and nearly all the tricks we have up our sleeves to find their way earth-side. This sweet babe asked us for patience and trust, which their parents gave in droves. This family came into my practice late in pregnancy but we were able to build a foundation based on transparency and trust in each other quickly-and it mattered deeply during this 49 hour journey. Welcome to the world, we are so glad you’re here!🎉🩷

My clients have made me feel so spoiled lately😭🩷💐 A closing visit with a family who is just so stinkin cool and sweet🩷 This mama wrote the kindest words, a few of them being “you truly do feel like solid ground” made me cry big ol tears! When I re-named my beloved practice I had some criticism from a handful of people about the new name, with really strong encouragement to reconsider the name. I felt so strongly that it represented what (I hope) care with me felt like, during a time that can feel so liminal and ever-changing for people I want to be a grounding and calm presence in it all. Thank you so much for letting me a small part of welcoming this “tiny” babe!😂🩷

A fairly quiet clinic day means time for some CEU coursework between visits🪡Did you know home birth midwives can repair the vast majority of tears that might occur at birth (but also home birth can be protective of your tissues since you are choosing your birthing position)!

Began my day with an office visit for a mama welcoming her first babe, this afternoon has been full of self care: sunshine filled walk with the buddies, a facial for this peri-menopausal skin of mine, then I arrived home to a sweet gift left by a mama whose (big) babe turned 1 month old today😭🩷 I’ll end the day with a consult and finally a postpartum visit with the newest solid ground baby🩷🎉

Some home births require us to tap into additional resources, so we move the birthday party to the hospital. This woman worked extra hard to help her baby figure out how to navigate the pelvis-it meant choosing things she had hoped to avoid in an effort to have a vaginal birth-and it worked out in the end! Her baby came into the world with a 7cm caput on their sweet lil head, showing us the exact position they were hanging out in for manyyyyy hours! Feeling grateful for the trusting relationship based care that home birth midwifery is, for smooth hospital transfers, and for getting to witness the wild strength birth brings to the surface. Welcome little babe-we are so glad you’re here🩷🎉

We have a new option for in office prenatal care🎉While we will continue to offer home based prenatal visits, this option is offered at a lower rate, allows you direct access to the lending library, and helps this midwife have better work-life balance! I wasn’t sure if anyone would be interested in this but in the first 2 weeks of offering 3 new clients have chosen this option🩷✨🎉

Yesterday’s babe came in such a hurry this midwife was flying down I95 while dad relayed the birth of his 10 !!!!! baby to me over the phone. Hearing the final roar this mama made to bring her babe to arms gave me goosebumps. This woman worked so hard all pregnancy to be in tune with her babe and her body, she wanted to embody and truly own every little bit of this birth experience and boy did she ever!!! In nearly a decade of midwifing this is the 2nd birth I have missed. At the 36 week prenatal I always go over what to do in the event baby is coming faster than the midwife, and it happens so rarely sometimes I wonder if it’s worth the sometimes stressful (mostly for partners!) conversation but this is my reminder that it’s a worthwhile convo! This mom and dad (and grandma!) did absolutely incredible✨✨✨ Once this family was taken care of and cozied in their bed I headed out to help another midwife welcome a babe! This 2nd family had to work a bit longer for their babe but by late afternoon they were all cozy in bed with babe in arms. It’s a special honor to be trusted by another midwife to step in when needed and to have a family welcome you to the team late in care and get to quickly build that trust that keeps home birth safe. I came home last evening so, so grateful for this wild, magical life and community. And I slept for nearly 14 hours straight!
