๐ From Cherry Eye to Bright Eyes: Beckyโs Successful Ophthalmology Journey! ๐โจ
Meet Becky! โค๏ธ
When Becky developed a noticeable red swelling in the corner of her left eye, her family brought her to see Dr. Buechner and our ophthalmology team. She was diagnosed with "cherry eye," a condition caused by the displacement of an important tear-producing gland within the third eyelid. ๐พ๐๏ธโจ
After a thorough eye examination, surgery was recommended to reposition the gland. Because the opposite eye was also at risk of developing the same problem, a preventive procedure was performed on that eye as well.
Using a highly successful technique called a Morgan Pocket with Abrams Modification, the gland is carefully tucked back into its natural location and reinforced with additional sutures to help keep it securely in place while healing. The goal is to preserve the gland, which plays an important role in producing tears and maintaining healthy eyes.
Becky's surgery went smoothly, and at her recheck appointment, both glands were exactly where they should be! ๐ Her eyes are healing beautifully, her temporary protective sutures were removed, and she's well on her way to a full recovery.
We're so happy to see Becky feeling great and looking bright-eyed again! ๐ Thank you to her family for trusting our team with her care.
