As the world watches the FIFA World Cup Physician Assistants are stepping up behind the scenes as members of the medical teams caring for athletes, staff, and spectators.

From evaluating injuries to managing acute medical needs and coordinating emergency care, PAs are once again demonstrating the adaptability, clinical skill, and teamwork that define our profession.

MAPA applauds the Mass General Brigham PAs who stood ready to protect the safety and health of all participants in the World Cup at Gillette Stadium.

It's another reminder that PAs are trusted across every level of medicine—from rural critical access hospitals and community emergency departments to the biggest sporting event on the planet.

Physician Associates from across Massachusetts traveled this week to New Orleans this weekend to represent the interests of Mass PAs at the American Academy of Physician Associates House of Delegates meeting.

The House of Delegates is where PAs from across the country come together to debate policy, shape the future of the profession, and advocate for patients and the PA workforce nationwide. From modernization efforts and workforce mobility to education, reimbursement, and access to care, the decisions made here help guide the future of our profession and direct our advocacy efforts on the state level.

Massachusetts continues to be a national leader in PA advocacy, and we are excited to bring our members' voices to the national stage. Thank you to Cathy Hamel, Carey Barry, Jennifer Pertucci, Nicole Zarba, and Duncan Daviau, who continue to support MAPA, engage in advocacy, and help move our profession forward.

Leadership is not a title; it's a calling. Leadership does not end when a board term does.

Grateful to see former MAPA Board Member and President Christina C Morone continuing to advocate for patients, providers, and the future of healthcare in Massachusetts through engagement at the highest levels of state government — including meeting with Massachusetts State Senate President Karen Spilka.

One of the greatest strengths of our profession is that so many leaders continue showing up long after their formal roles conclude. Advocacy is strongest when it becomes a lifelong commitment to improving access, supporting clinicians, and advancing team-based care.

Thank you for your continued involvement, leadership, and dedication to the PA profession and the patients we serve across the Commonwealth.

Natalee Lynn Georgantas, a Western Mass based Physician Assistant is doing something simple—but incredibly important: helping adolescents set healthier boundaries with their cell phones.

And honestly, it couldn’t come at a better time.

We’re seeing it everywhere—kids struggling with focus, sleep, anxiety, and just being present. The constant pull of a screen isn’t harmless anymore. It’s shaping how they think, feel, and interact with the world.

This movement is not about blaming phones or shaming kids. It’s about awareness, balance, and giving families tools to take back a little control.

Because not every solution in healthcare comes from a prescription. And PAs understand that and are showing the world how we are leading the way.

Thanks State Senator Sal DiDomenico for having us!

Physician Assistants care so much about their patients and they came out in force to advocate at the State House. It was my pleasure to meet with constituents who are part of the Massachusetts Association of Physician Assistants (MAPA), and discuss their legislative priorities that would improve access to healthcare across the Commonwealth.
