Just two short years ago, Mylene Amor Pañares Fulgencio was an OpWalk patient who underwent bilateral hip surgery.

Today she is volunteering to provide much needed relief to her community after the recent earthquake in the South Philippines.

"I traveled to Glan, Sarangani twice. First, on June 10, we travelled an hour to transport 120 containers of water by land and received by a pump boat (locally term as bangka) for the road going to Glan proper was impassable that time. The supplies were received by our friends who are living in the area and were in charge in distributing containers of water to affected families.

The next day, we helped distribute containers of water and 5 kllos of rice to the community of Glan for the road is now passable.

Small deeds only but praying they may ease a little of their suffering and may become hopeful that this too shall pass. Big thanks to our donors."

Joint replacement truly changes lives, not only for the recipients but for their communities. Thank you, Mylene for sharing your story and for giving back to your neighbors in their time of need.

We love this memory.....

"We appreciate you allowing us to help you. You put your trust in us starting 22 years ago, and that means the world to our team. It warms my heart to see that every one is doing so well with smiles on your faces. Those smiles put smiles on our faces as well. Thank you for coming to see us and I am glad we can reunite without having to be in the operating room."

Today we remember OpWalk Angel, Winifred Crowley (August 6 1930- May 5, 2026). Winifred was a tireless supporter of Operation Walk and our founder, Dr. Lawrence Dorr.

Experiencing joint replacement first-hand in 2005, she collected canes, crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs for patients across the globe for more than twenty years.

Thank you Winifred for your dedication, kindness, and warm smile. You helped hundreds of patients take that first step into a new life. You will be missed. 🙏🩵🙏

Today’s hopefully will bring a smile to your face. We wanted to share some "OpWalk outtakes" with you to start your morning.

Our team is one big family and we love to make each other, our colleagues, and our patients laugh. 🥰

Music and Mobility:
For our 30th Anniversary Gala, Operation Walk received a donation that was truly special.

In 2016 the performed their historic free concert in Havana. Cuba was a place that Sir Mick Jagger and his team were aware of, which helped provide context for our work there. He made an initial donation of $10,000. An amount to cover two joint replacements.

After hearing the story of a young man receiving bilateral hips during our 2025 mission to Havana, Sir Mick wanted to do more. Read the story below to find out how this rock 'n roll legend is connected to OpWalk LA.
