Today, we honor the 17-year anniversary of the line-of-duty deaths of Fire Captain Tedmund “Ted” Hall and Fire Fighter Specialist Arnaldo “Arnie” Quinones.

On this day in 2009, they made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting their crew at Camp 16 during the Station Fire. Their vehicle rolled down a canyon in Mount Gleason during intense fire suppression efforts. With a combined 34 years of devoted service to Los Angeles County, their bravery remains an inspiration.

We shall never forget these true heroes and their sacrifice. 🕊️🚒

Meet us in Topanga Saturday for a Guiness at the “Reggae on the Mountain” music festival! We have worked along side this amazing community for many years to help provide a fun filled and family friendly experience. Many legendary reggae artists will be performing Saturday, July 25th, at the Topanga Community Club. Once again the promoters and producers have chosen to donate a portion of proceeds to benefit our 501(c)3 charitable organization (LA County Firefighters Emerald Society). We will have a booth set up at the festival, please come join us for some good vibes and a beautiful day in Topanga!

Captain Daniel Earl Elkins, 47
Los Angeles County Fire Department, CA
On July 12, 2004, Captain Elkins worked overtime at the Pine Fire command post. When he was called in to work the fire, Captain Elkins drove to the command post in his personal vehicle. At 0715hrs on July 13, 2004, Captain Elkins was released from duty at the Pine Fire and headed to his normal work assignment at Los Angeles County Fire Station 117. As he drove to the fire station, Captain Elkins' vehicle drifted off of the road, struck a berm/culvert, went airborne for approximately 94 feet, and overturned several times before coming to rest. Although he was wearing a seat belt, and airbags did deploy, Captain Elkins was killed in the crash.

Captain Arreguin died after suffering a job-related heart attack.
