This message made me SO happy because this is exactly what I want therapists to take away from the work we do together.

Not some magical marketing formula.

Confidence. Relationships. Community. And realizing that building a practice doesn’t have to mean sitting alone behind your laptop trying to figure everything out.

And yes… the cash-pay referral deserves a woo hoo 😂

The Therapist Empowerment Circle is a space for licensed therapists who want support not only as clinicians, but as actual humans running businesses.

The Therapist Empowerment Circle is BACK 🤍

I’ve run several rounds of this group over the years, and there’s a reason I keep coming back to it.

Private practice can be really freaking lonely.

You can take all the trainings, listen to the podcasts, save a million posts about marketing…and still find yourself sitting there thinking, okay but what am I actually supposed to be doing?

Or wondering if everyone else somehow has this figured out and you’re the only one winging it. (Spoiler: they don’t.)

The Therapist Empowerment Circle is a small monthly group for licensed therapists who want support growing their practice, figuring out their niche and messaging, getting more comfortable with marketing, working through imposter syndrome, burnout and visibility…and honestly, just having other therapists in their corner who get it.

Some months you might come in with a very specific business question. Other months you might just need to talk through what’s feeling hard or get some perspective on where to go next. That’s the point.

I’ve been in private practice for 7+ years, and I’ve learned a LOT along the way, sometimes the hard way. This group gives me a space to share what I’ve learned, help you troubleshoot what’s happening in your own practice, and bring therapists together so we don’t have to do this work in isolation.

We’ll meet once a month for 90 minutes on Zoom for 6 months, starting September 30.
Meets every last Wednesday of the month and you can be located anywhere in the US.

It’s $75/month, and I intentionally keep these groups small so there’s actually time for everyone to talk, ask questions and get support.

If you’ve been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, lonely in private practice, or like you know where you want to go but could really use some support getting there, I’d love to have you in this next round.

I really thought becoming a therapist would be the hard part.

Graduate school.

Hours.

Licensure.

Trainings.

Clinical experience.

And then you get into private practice and realize there is an ENTIRE other job nobody really taught you how to do.

How do I actually get clients?

What should I charge?

Do I need a niche?

How do I market myself without feeling cringey?

Am I charging too much?

Am I charging too little?

What if my caseload isn’t full?

What if I want to do something besides seeing clients all day?

And underneath a lot of it:

Does everyone else know what they’re doing except me?

They don’t.

One of the biggest things I’ve learned is how valuable it is to have other therapists you can talk about this stuff with honestly.

Not another space where you have to have your s**t together.

A space to brainstorm, ask questions, get support, talk business, work through imposter syndrome and figure out what YOU actually want your career to look like.

That’s why I created the Therapist Empowerment Circle.

If you’ve been feeling stuck, isolated, overwhelmed or like you’re trying to piece together the business side of being a therapist on your own, I’d love to have you.

Comment CIRCLE and I’ll send you all the details. ❤️

I love being a therapist.

But becoming a therapist and learning how to actually build a career as one are two VERY different things.

No one taught me how to build a private practice.

How to market myself without feeling cringey.

How to figure out what I actually wanted to be known for.

How to set my fees.

How to create income outside of seeing more and more clients.

Or how to deal with the imposter syndrome, comparison, isolation and “what the hell am I doing?” moments that come with working for yourself.

A lot of that I learned by doing it. Getting things wrong. Changing my mind. Trying again. And slowly building a career that actually feels like mine.

And I know I’m not the only therapist who has wished there was more space to talk about this stuff.

That’s why I created the Therapist Empowerment Circle.

It’s a space for licensed therapists who want to grow their private practice, get clearer on their niche, work toward bigger business goals, explore alternative income streams, and actually TALK about the parts of being a therapist/business owner that we usually keep to ourselves.

The burnout.
The isolation.
The comparison.
The limiting beliefs.
The big ideas you’re not quite sure how to make happen yet.

You don’t have to have it all figured out before you come.

That’s kind of the point. ❤️

The next circle is starting soon. If you’re a licensed therapist and this sounds like the kind of room you’ve been looking for, comment CIRCLE or DM me and I’ll send you the details 🫶Alex

Free Perinatal Therapist consultation group 🚨

This has been on my heart for a while 💛

I’ve been wanting to create a free consultation group specifically for therapists working in perinatal mental health, a space where we can bring cases, ask questions, share resources, and connect with other therapists who really understand the nuances of this work.

Perinatal mental health has been such a huge part of my own professional journey. I’m a Perinatal Mental Health Certified (PMH-C) therapist and have been specializing in this work for the past 8 years. I love this field, I love supporting other therapists in it, and I know firsthand how valuable it can be to have other clinicians to consult with who get the complexities of perinatal work.

It’s a big part of why creating this kind of space has been on my heart for so long.

Before I decide exactly what it looks like, though, I want to hear from you.

I put together a super short interest form to get a sense of who would want to join and what would actually work best: virtual vs. in-person here in Ventura, once or twice a month, days/times, etc.

There’s absolutely no commitment by filling it out. I’m just genuinely curious about what would feel most helpful and doable for our perinatal therapist community.

If this sounds like something you’d want to be part of, I’d love for you to fill it out 💛 Link in bio 🫶

And please feel free to share this with another perinatal therapist who might be interested! - Alex Steric, LCSW, PMH-C

There were days my impostor syndrome was so loud, so cruel, that quitting my business felt like relief.

Not because I didn’t care.
Not because I wasn’t capable.
But because carrying the constant “who do you think you are?” voice is exhausting.

What I’ve learned, both as a therapist and a business owner is this:
Impostor syndrome gets louder when you’re growing.
When you’re visible.
When you’re doing something that actually matters to you.

That voice isn’t intuition.
It’s fear trying to keep you safe by keeping you small.

You don’t overcome impostor syndrome by waiting until you feel confident.
You move forward with it, gently reminding yourself that discomfort doesn’t mean danger and doubt doesn’t mean you don’t belong.

If you’re in a season where the voice is loud, please hear this:
You’re not behind.
You’re not failing.
You’re expanding.

And that’s allowed to feel scary.

✨ If this resonates, save it for the days you need the reminder.

My reflections on 2025. 2026…let’s gooooo.

Yes, I’m still taking 1:1 coaching clients 🤍

And yes, my associate .heroic.healer is accepting new clients.

If you’re ready to build your practice with support, you’re in the right place ✨

If you’re a therapist heading into Thanksgiving, please know this:
You are allowed to eat your meal in peace without being the family mediator, the conflict diffuser, or the emotional-support-human for every relative who “just has one quick question.”

You’re not being difficult.
You’re protecting your nervous system.
And you deserve to enjoy your holiday without slipping into unpaid emotional labor.

If this is your yearly pattern, here’s your gentle reminder to set boundaries early and often:
✨ “I’m off today.”
✨ “Let’s save that for another time.”
✨ “I love you, but I’m not working right now.”

Because even therapists deserve rest… especially on holidays where half the table is one comment away from needing a full family session.

Tell me, what’s the most therapist-y thing your family has asked you during the holidays? 👇💀
