Artificial intelligence is changing the way we research family history, making it easier to transcribe records, restore photographs, translate documents, and discover new clues about our ancestors.

But no matter how advanced AI becomes, one genealogy principle remains the same: always verify the information before adding it to your family tree.

Review original records whenever possible, evaluate suggested matches carefully, and double-check AI-generated stories against reliable sources. AI can be a valuable research assistant, but good genealogy still depends on evidence and careful analysis.

Most genealogists have heard about AI, but many aren't sure what it can actually do for family history research.

The truth is that AI isn't just for writing content. It can help you read difficult records, organize photographs, find connections across databases, translate foreign-language documents, and even turn research into meaningful family stories.

Which of these uses have you tried in your own genealogy research?

AI is everywhere right now, and it’s making a lot of genealogists wonder: Is this something I need to learn?

In this episode, I sit down with Drew Smith of Genealogy Guys to talk about what AI actually is, how it can help family historians, and where you need to be careful. We discuss practical ways AI can help organize research, summarize information, and even help you work through genealogy problems—without replacing the critical thinking that good research requires.

If you've been curious about AI but haven't known where to start, this conversation is for you.

Watch now.

Is AI a threat to "real" genealogy, or is it the best tool we've ev...

If you’ve ever watched one of my videos and wished you could dig a little deeper, Aimee’s Crew was created for you.

Each month, Crew members receive a companion handout designed to help you apply what you’re learning to your own family history research. You’ll also get access to exclusive livestreams, replay recordings, and behind-the-scenes discussions that don’t make it to the public channel.

One of my favorite parts of the Crew is that your questions help shape the research and topics we explore together.

There are two membership levels available, so be sure to select Aimee’s Crew when you join.

I’d love to have you researching alongside us.

Crista did a live talking about our trip and her amazing finds. Check it out! (I was the cameraman!😁)

Yesterday we were in Fulton County, Indiana, researching together as Crista Cowan worked on one of her genealogy brick walls.

There is something special about getting out into the places our ancestors lived, digging into local records, and following the clues together. I cannot wait for you to see how this research adventure unfolds.

We are keeping the details of the search under wraps for now, but the full story will be shared on my YouTube channel in the future and Crista will be posting about it on her social media too.

One of my favorite things about in-person conferences is seeing friends in person, particularly coaching clients! It was great to see Joy Downs Young, a member of my group coaching program.
