We had another great week here at Wellsprings. We celebrated National Soft Serve Ice Cream Day with a trip to the lake and a stop for ice cream. Next, we got out the homemade jelly that the Master Gardeners brought us last Tuesday, and put it on crackers and homemade bread. We talked about our own gardening plans for next year.  We finished the week by celebrating National Senior Citizens Day.  The Dominoes club took a trip to the Wamego Senior Center.  We bought cookies next-door to share during our Dominoes tournament and brought home plenty to share with our friends back at Wellsprings. We grabbed some lunch at La Fiesta while we were out. I would like to say thank you to all of the wonderful staff and patrons at La Fiesta. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful while we were there.  I would also like to think the Wamego Senior Center, when we shared our cookies with everyone, they got out some ice cream to share with us. We had a wonderful time.

We are having a great August. We love games and joyrides, but fun with food is our favorite. Our kitchen is the best and it is hard to pick a favorite meal, but the fried chicken is definitely in our top five.  We loved it so much that Angela wasn’t fast enough to get a picture other than the one with two bites already missing. We brought out the ice cream machine and had everything from plain vanilla to extra loaded banana splits.  We tried cutting our watermelon up the way TikTok tells us too, and it was convenient. We also picked up treats while we were out on the bus. We look forward to all of the food and adventure that this week will bring.

We played Bingo on the way to see all of the beautiful cars in Alma, this morning. We celebrated our winning bingo’s with home made pie and cinnamon rolls from the Alma United Methodist bake sale. They were delicious and you can’t find some of these flavors at a store. We had gooseberry, choke cherry, cherry coconut, boysenberry, blueberry and apple. We brought some back to share. It was a beautiful day for a drive and we hope that your day was as delicious as ours, unless you were hoping for cinnamon rolls, because we bought them out.

Tuesdays are always fun. We love having guests at our morning coffee club, and the Master Gardeners are always a favorite. We learned about peppers and peaches, then we got to sample some of each. Angela brought out the ice cream machine for our bowls of peaches. Karen brought her homemade pepper jelly. It was delicious. We tried some on crackers, with cream cheese. In the afternoon we drove to the Wamego park to watch the turtles. We played our new bingo game and celebrated our bingos with doughnuts. Angela was not fast enough to get pictures of anyone eating while we were at the park. We did bring some back to share. Pax did not get a doughnut, but he did put on his best cute face to try to get one. As always, we hope your day was as fun and delicious as ours.

Monday, we had a Sonic Experience. We served chili cheese dogs, chili cheese tots, pickle spears, slushies, and soft serve ice cream. Residents could choose to add or delete options, and the ice cream and slushies had multiple flavors and additives. We will have more Sonic related fun throughout the week. Thank you to all three-area Sonic's, for the generous donations of Sonic containers. It really added to the fun.

Happy National Water Balloon Day! We love going outside and it is even better when we get to throw water balloons and play with the trebuchet. It was a lot of fun and a great way to cool down. Thank you, Michelle Campbell, Angela Coleman, and Joe Blenn, for volunteering to be targets.

Happy National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day. We went for a ride on the bus to play our new game of Bus Bingo.  Everybody got a bingo so we celebrated with chocolate chip cookies, and ice cream.  We made our own bingo cards and took a nice 55 mile drive to check out some of our favorite places. We hope your day was as good as ours, but it will be hard to beat a day filled with ice cream and cookies.
