Recovery isn’t always talked about honestly.
The surgery may last a few hours, but healing is a journey that unfolds over weeks and months and often comes with emotions patients don’t expect.
The swelling that seems worse before it gets better. The moments of doubt. The impatience. The comparison trap. The feeling of wondering if you’re healing “normally.”
This is what Dr. Kusuma calls “the messy middle.“
It’s the space between surgery day and seeing your final result. And while it can be challenging, it’s also a normal part of the healing process.
The more we talk about recovery openly, the more prepared and supported patients can feel throughout their journey.
What do you wish someone had told you about recovery before surgery?
