That’s a wrap on our 4th season at Berry Hill Farm 🥹🫐✨

We’ve been closed for an hour and already miss seeing every one of your happy faces, hearing your funny stories, watching your kids grow, meeting your family from out of town… seriously. What we experience here daily feels like what life is all about; sharing meaningful moments together, however simple. Sharing this place with you, creating something wholesome & beautiful that brings nourishment to so many bodies and hearts is nothing less than a dream come true for us. Every year that becomes even more clear. 💛

Thank you for making your visits to Berry Hill Farm a tradition & a priority. Please, keep shopping local! Support our farm neighbors! (Look at SEMAP for a list of farms around you!) Farms & farmers are SO much of what makes this place in the world so special & authentic. When you buy from a farmer those dollars stay in the community, they vote for a local culture that prioritizes good food, slow days, open spaces, relationships, and beauty 🌻

With that, we’re already starting “off-season” management (a year round project for perennials!) and planning out our Town Farm Tonics market schedule & new products!

We’ll be a tad quiet here for a bit as we enjoy a little staycation in magical Westport. But we look forward to seeing you around!! 💫

Slowing things way down over here as we prepare to close for the season! We’re open just for pick-your-own the next few days, while berries last.

Be sure to call ahead and check on hours if you’re driving out of your way, in case we have to close early. It’s slower picking but what’s left is so ripe & sweet!

The biggest blueberry we’ve ever found! An average big berry is about 2-3g, and this monster was 5g 🤩 it was an Elizabeth variety, which has this interesting hexagonal shape & is a bit flat. And very tasty!
We believe this variety is named after the woman who first cultivated blueberries, Elizabeth Coleman White. Did you know that blueberries weren’t grown agriculturally until the 30s? Until then they grew only in the wild, and have long been a food staple of indigenous people 💫

Berry Good PSA - Friends who like to buy multiple pints at a time, we’re talking to YOU! It’s peak season over here as we ride the crest of a blueberry tsunami 🏄

The next 2 weeks of July are THE TIME to buy extra pints for the freezer! And if you’re looking to grab more than a dozen, call ahead, so we can pack them up for you 👌🏼

We get a lot of disappointed visitors in mid August, when the bushes are giving their last berries, and the opportunity to stock up has passed. Don’t let that be you!! Hot Blueberry pancakes on a chilly December morning are twice as nice 😉 🫐💙

What do you think about our bird scare tactics? We find his methods to be quite advanced, I think we’ll have him come back again 😅👌🏼🪶
But for real - wow, the birds have been crazy! We get the question “how do you keep the birds away” literally several times daily. In the past they haven’t been much of an issue, what we lost was minimal. But it seems with the orchard looking so healthy this year, a few local flocks noticed, too 🤪
All apart of the job! We’re trying different things, but honestly, just being out there, harvesting & making noise has been the most effective strategy for disrupting their patterns!

Happy B-Earth-Day to our neighbor & friend, Bob!
We count our blessings today because not only did our dream of farming come true, but Berry Hill Farm also came as a package deal with the worlds best mentor, Bob Pierce!! His family farmed this land for 3 generations & we get to carry on that legacy now 🫐💙
Bob is humble & wise. He is always willing to lend us a hand (or a tractor bucket). He readily shares his experience, while always encouraging us to find our own way of doing things. He has no obligation to help us and yet he shows up before we even know what help we need. 💙🫐
Join us in wishing Bob a BERRY Happy Birthday!!! May we all learn how to live more in community by his example. We’ll make sure to show him all the birthday love 😄
