Falmouth 🏃‍♀️ One week to go.

Taper mode: ON. 👀

Time to do what I tell my runners to do: trust the training, recover, and don’t try anything new.

Which means I’ll be doing my very best to NOT tweak my back again 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

The work is done. Now we recover, stay consistent, and let the training show up on race day.

Monday Game Plan 🗓️

Here’s how I’m fitting in movement this week…

My schedule isn’t the same every day anymore, so my workouts can’t be on autopilot either.

Movement doesn’t happen by accident.

You have to protect it.
You have to plan for it.
You have to be flexible.

The goal isn’t a perfect week—it’s finding a way to keep showing up

When I’m training for a race, those workouts go on my calendar first because I know they’ll make me a better runner.

When I’m in an off-season, I give myself a little more flexibility. If I miss a workout, I don’t stress.

But I do have one rule…

I never let two days go by without moving my body.

Because consistency isn’t about having the perfect schedule.

It’s about making movement fit the schedule you have.

Stop training for the distance. Start training for the demands of the race.

One thing I’ve never understood as a run coach is why so many runners avoid hills when they’re training for a race that’s known for…hills.

If you know the course is going to challenge you with climbs, why wouldn’t you prepare for exactly that?

As I train for the Falmouth Road Race, I’m intentionally seeking out routes that mirror the course. With roughly 500 feet of elevation gain, my long runs are hillier than I’d naturally choose, and I’m incorporating hill repeats each week.

I’m not just building fitness—I’m building familiarity and confidence.

Whether it’s hills, heat, trails, or technical terrain, the best training prepares you for the specific demands of race day.

When my bootcampers see the “toys” come out… they know it’s going to be a good day. 😄

No endless sprinting.

Just movement that feels like play.

But don’t be fooled…

They’re still building strength, power, balance, coordination, and confidence.

Adults need play, too. Sometimes the best workouts don’t even feel like work.

Instead, your coach adjusts the plan.

🔥 Hot? Yes.
🥵 Humid? Absolutely.
❌ Excuse to skip moving? Not today.

Tonight wasn’t about chasing PRs. It was about adjusting to the conditions, staying smart, and having some fun.

Chase drills are one of my favorite ways to remind runners that speed work doesn’t always have to feel so serious. Everyone gets a turn leading, everyone gets a chance to recover, and somehow the laughs make the hard work feel just a little easier.

Move your body.
Hydrate.
Cheer for your teammates.
Leave feeling better than when you arrived.

For years, I thought the key to consistency was finding more time.

Then I became a mom, built a business, coached athletes, and realized something important…
More time never showed up.

The people who stay healthy aren’t living stress-free lives. They simply learn to protect a small part of their day and treat it like it matters.

This week, don’t wait for life to get easier.

Protect one workout. Protect one walk. Protect one healthy meal.

Small choices, repeated consistently, change everything.

Before the lights. Before the Home Run Derby. Before this season took things to another level.

Back in April, took a moment to sign this baseball for our kids. At the time, it was simply a kind gesture from a young player for the Yankees who still made time for the little things.

Little did we know we’d be watching the season of a lifetime unfold.

In our house, baseball is serious business—a Red Sox/Yankees divide that sparks plenty of friendly debates. But this year, something unexpected happened.

Watching Ben’s journey has given all of us someone to cheer for, no matter which side of the rivalry we’re on. It’s ignited a genuine love for the game in our kids, and that’s been even more fun to watch than the home runs.

As a local Massachusetts kid, Ben has become something even bigger than a great ballplayer. He’s shown our kids—and so many others growing up here—that hard work, humility, and treating people well still matter. Talent opens doors, but character carries you through them.

Good luck tonight, Ben. We’ll be cheering you on. Thanks for giving our family—and so many local kids—something to believe in.

Anyone else feel this?

I don’t run because I have extra time. I run because if I don’t protect that time, something else will gladly take it.

Some mornings, the hardest part isn’t the miles—it’s getting out the front door before the rest of the house wakes up.
