"I'll feel better when my arms are smaller."
"I'll feel better when I finally get it right."

"I'll feel better when."

Most of us have been mid-sentence for decades.
Today's post is about why that sentence is so sticky, why midlife has a way of cracking it open โ€” and what becomes possible when you finally put it down.

Why the body fantasy keeps moving โ€” and why midlife is often when it finally cracks open

The Buddha asked his students: if you're hit by an arrow, does it hurt? Obviously. And if you're hit by a second arrow in the same spot? Much worse.
Here's the part that wrecked me: the second arrow is the one we shoot at ourselves.
If you're a highly sensitive person who replays conversations at 2 a.m., this 2,500-year-old teaching is for you.

Why the same nervous system that drains quickly is also uniquely wired to heal in small doses

If the world often feels like too much, you might be wired differently โ€” and thatโ€™s not a flaw. Hereโ€™s a small, science-backed practice that can change how your nervous system moves through the day.

Your nervous system isn't only built to detect threat.

It's also built to detect safety โ€” it just needs you to slow down long enough to notice.

These are called glimmers, and for highly sensitive people, they're not a nicety.

They're medicine. Full piece on what they are and how to practice noticing them will be in my Substack next week. Stay posted!

Diet culture is not a wellness plan. It's a recurring subscription to self-doubt.

And most of us signed up before we were old enough to read the fine print.

Canceling that subscription isn't easy. But it might be the most liberating thing you do.

I've been sitting on this one for a while โ€” and I finally think it's ready.

Starting today, I'm launching a series ("Biology Meets Biography") I've wanted to write for years: an honest, research-grounded, zero-fluff exploration of what high sensitivity looks like as we age. What's happening in our bodies. What it means for how we feel, how we cope, how we relate to ourselves.

This is Part 1. There's more coming. And if it resonates โ€” share it with the HSP woman in your life who needs to hear she's not falling apart.

She's paying attention. There's a difference.
