Our next Ready for Breastfeeding class will be held in person at South Shore Hospital on Saturday, June 27 from 1:30 to 4 p.m.

If you're planning to breastfeed, our Ready for Breastfeeding class can help get you and your baby off to a smooth start.

In this prenatal program, board-certified lactation consultants and experienced nurses teach proper positioning, feeding frequency, how to read your baby's hunger signs, the importance of skin-to-skin contact and offer helpful hints for a successful breastfeeding experience.

Did you know that we offer a free support group for breastfeeding moms?

Our Lactation Support Group meets at 12:30 PM here at South Shore Hospital on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Led by nurses who are certified in lactation counseling, these sessions offer guidance on latching, milk supply, pumping, cluster feeding, and more.

Our nurses will weigh your baby before and after each session to determine how much your baby takes during a single feed.

This group offers a welcoming, supportive environment, with only mothers, babies, and our nurses allowed in the room.

Our informative, hands-on class teaches new parents diapering basics, umbilical cord care, and proper infant positioning, as well as ways to comfort your crying baby, guidelines for safe infant sleep and car seat safety essentials.
