When knee pain starts getting in the way, understanding what may be contributing to it can make a real difference.

Taylor came to Lakeside Spine & Injury Center with serious knee issues and worked with Dr. Andrew Allen to better understand the source of the pain. Dr. Allen took the time to explain what was going on and outlined a rehab plan based on what he found.

Over the following several weeks, Taylor shared that the rehab had been really helpful and had a great experience working with Dr. Allen.

We’re grateful to Taylor for taking the time to share this review. If knee discomfort has been affecting how you move or go about your day, we’re here to help.

What’s really going on when a shoulder suddenly feels weak?

Dr. Andrew Allen sits down with Jerry Bowman of Bowman Law to take a closer look at his injured shoulder.

Through conversation, movement, and strength testing, Dr. Allen works to understand better what may be contributing to the weakness and discomfort Jerry is experiencing.

A good assessment starts with understanding what happened, where you’re feeling it, and how the area responds to movement.

Understanding how the shoulder moves is an important part of figuring out what may be causing the problem.

Your first visit at Lakeside is about understanding what’s going on and deciding what makes sense for you.

Dr. Andrew Allen takes time to learn about your symptoms, health history, movement, and goals before determining the next steps. When clinically appropriate, treatment may begin during that same visit.

There’s no one approach for every patient. Your evaluation helps guide the type of care that may be appropriate for your individual needs.

If you’re ready to better understand what may be contributing to your discomfort, we’d be happy to help.

Sciatica can feel different from person to person, and understanding what may be causing your symptoms is an important first step.

Sciatica is a symptom, not a diagnosis. Different issues can irritate or compress the sciatic nerve, which may lead to pain that travels from the lower back or hip into the leg, along with symptoms like numbness or tingling.

If you’ve been dealing with these symptoms, learning more about what may be contributing to them can help you better understand your next steps.

Thank you, Audrey, for trusting us with your care and for sharing your experience.

What happens when your insurance company says you don’t need more treatment, but you’re still dealing with pain, stiffness, headaches, or limited movement?

It can be confusing, especially when you’re already trying to recover from a car accident.

One important distinction to understand is that an insurance coverage decision and a healthcare recommendation are not necessarily the same thing. Recovery looks different for everyone, and decisions about your care should take your symptoms, functional limitations, progress, and your healthcare provider’s recommendations into account.

In our blog, we break down:
✔ Why insurance companies review ongoing treatment
✔ The difference between coverage decisions and treatment decisions
✔ What Maximum Medical Improvement, or MMI, actually means
✔ Why objective documentation and progress tracking matter
✔ Questions to ask your healthcare provider before making decisions about continued care

If you’ve received an insurance notice questioning your treatment and aren’t sure what it means for your recovery, this article can help you better understand the situation.

Recovery starts with understanding what is happening in your lower back.

A lower back assessment helps identify joint restrictions, movement limitations, and muscle imbalances that may be contributing to pain or affecting how you move. From there, we develop a personalized treatment plan based on your individual needs and goals.

If you've been dealing with ongoing neck pain, back pain, or limited mobility, we'd be happy to help you.

Did you know your knee doesn’t work alone?

The muscles surrounding your knee help support and control the joint through everyday movements like walking, climbing stairs, and exercising.

Your quads and hamstrings also play an important role in managing the forces your knee handles with each step.

Looking at muscle function, strength, and mobility can help provide a better understanding of what may be contributing to knee discomfort.

If you’ve been dealing with ongoing knee pain or limited mobility, we’d be happy to help you.
