Some people have a biopsychosocial propensity toward experiencing their emotions very strongly, and this often leads to polarized thoughts that just make them feel worse and that can also negatively impact their relationships.

🌾For example, if you get your feelings hurt because someone didn’t return a text promptly, those feelings can get amplified into more discomfort, which can lead to problematic thoughts like, “well I guess they don’t think I’m funny,” or “I said something wrong/stupid…” or “they don’t like me” etc.

🌾While your feelings are valid, it doesn’t make them true. It also doesn’t serve your relationships to act on such feelings because acting on false narratives can push people away and become a self-fulfilling prophecy that reinforces a false idea that something is wrong with you, or that you shouldn’t trust people, and so forth.

Instead of fueling the fire with negative narratives:

🌾Simply notice that you’re having feelings of rejection or hurt.

🌾Try to calm your nervous system by engaging in a pleasurable activity, exercise, or doing some breathing.

🌾Notice feeling more calm, and then see if there could be other possibilities for why a text wasn’t returned promptly, such as someone is occupied with an activity and will eventually get back to you, for example.

🌾Notice feeling better and overall more grounded, having soothed yourself instead of prematurely reacting at the other person, and potentially disrupting your relationship.

🌾This also allows for more patience which can allow for more information to be revealed about the situation.

A woman who was never shy about being her most bold and vibrant self—even at times of patriarchal double standards and sexism—who projected non-judgment, kindness, self-confidence, generosity, compassion, and beautiful raw musical & creative talent…you have left a legacy, and we are forever devoid of your sparkle, Dolly❤️‍🩹🙏🏽🌸✨

Celebrating 16 years of legal union to this exceptional man, who has continued to love, support, and embrace me through all of the chapters and evolutions in our lives, witnessing each other’s struggles, joys, and metamorphosis 🦋, and genuinely loving one another for who each of us is🥹💕.

🌷We are both fire signs and have very strong identities and sense of self, as well as strong passions—which don’t all overlap—though we do share plenty. We embrace each other as the unique individuals each of us is and don’t strive to mold one another to meet all of our needs.

🌷From New Orleans, to San Diego, to East Bay Area, to Lakewood, Colorado, we have continued sharing the majority of our lives together, our love for our children, the great outdoors and love for nature 🌅 ⛰️, our community, and more…

🌷I celebrate and feel profoundly grateful for you, Ryan Evans! Thank you for your love, tenderness, wisdom, soulfulness, depth, integrity, and devotion to me. Thank you for being a solid and secure loving partner🙏🏽💝❤️‍🔥🎉🥂

Let’s give ourselves plenty of and when life gets tough or we have to experience and worry over beloved people in our lives.

🌾We are allowed to lose our cool or feel big emotions, and our only responsibility to others in our lives who bear witness to our pain is to practice self-awareness and take some accountability for any emotionally reactive behavior without letting the shame response take over.

🌾We are humans, and suffering is part of the human experience. Beauty, joy, love, and pleasure are also part of the humans experience. Cheers to the ups and the downs of life, loves! 🥂 ❤️❤️‍🩹
