A yoga retreat does not have to revolve around one yoga class after another. Morning yoga might be followed by breakfast, free time, an afternoon excursion, journaling, creative practice, restorative yoga, or an evening sound meditation. Different modalities allow participants to experience yoga beyond asana.

The first question is not how many activities can fit into the schedule. The question is what kind of experience you want to create.

Same day. Same world. Different front pages.

Travel has a way of reminding us that where we stand influences what we see. From Rome, I took a closer look at how newspapers from different places tell the story of the world around us, and why curiosity about another perspective matters.

🎭 TWO THINGS CAN BE TRUE

We like people to be easy to understand.

Kind or difficult.
Strong or vulnerable.
Confident or uncertain.
Light or shadow.

But perhaps one of the most interesting things about people is our capacity to be two things at once.

A person can be extraordinarily strong and still need tenderness. Someone can love deeply and still disappoint us. We can be certain about the direction of our lives while questioning the next step. We can carry enormous confidence beside equally enormous vulnerability.

Like sculpture, we change depending upon where the light falls.

And perhaps maturity is not learning to eliminate these contradictions, but learning to recognize that they belong to the same form.

Trauma-Informed Series
Teaching Trauma-Informed Yoga to Special Populations

Trauma-informed yoga is not limited to one population or teaching environment. It is reflected in the language we use, the choices we offer, the structure we create, and the way we respond when a student participates differently than expected.

Edge Yoga School’s new Trauma-Informed Series includes three separate continuing education workshops:

🌱 Teaching Trauma-Informed Yoga to Children
Explore supportive language, developmentally appropriate choices, predictable transitions, creativity, movement, and participation without pressure. Continue toward the qualifying 95-hour RCYS training and, for eligible graduates, the RCYT credential.

🤍 Teaching Trauma-Informed Prenatal Yoga
Learn what to do when an expecting mama walks into your class, including respectful communication, common movement adaptations, meaningful choice, inclusion, and appropriate teaching scope. Continue toward the qualifying 85-hour RPYS training and, for eligible graduates, the RPYT credential.

🍵 Teaching Trauma-Informed Ayurveda and Yoga
Explore observation, curiosity, rhythm, environment, sensory experience, meaningful choice, and tea without rigid labels or assumptions. Continue into the complete RYS 500 Ayurvedic Yoga Teacher Training: Trauma-Informed and, for eligible graduates, the RYT 500 credential.

Each workshop stands completely on its own. Attend the session that best supports your teaching, or explore the complete collection.

Participants who complete a workshop receive Yoga Alliance YACEP continuing education hours and a certificate from Edge Yoga School.
