Nehalem Bay Health Center & Pharmacy invites community members and caregivers to attend this helpful workshop led by Dental Hygienist Marissa Valastro and Health & Wellness Navigator Megan Abben.

Attendees will learn:

- Healthy brushing habits
- Simple ways to help prevent cavities
- Tips for choosing the right dental tools
- How food, drinks and daily habits affect oral health

This week, we celebrated our lovely Beverly's (Bev) 92nd birthday! 🎉🎂🎈

Bev has been Nehalem Bay Health Center's Medical Records Custodian for nearly 24 years, reaching that milestone next month!

In addition, from November 1979 through October 2019, Bev organized a program that provided perms, manicures, and pedicures to the residents of the Nehalem Valley Care Center, with the help of 20-30 volunteers over the years.

Forty years of service to others - WOW!

We asked Bev a few questions to share with our community:

• What is a proud moment or major accomplishment in your career at the Nehalem Bay Health Center? - "All my time spent here is so gratifying! I love my clinic FAMILY."
• What is the most important life lesson you have learned? - "Patience."
• What invention or major world event during your lifetime has amazed you the most? - "I believe television and the polio vaccine were tied for that distinction."

Meet Jamie Godwin, Chief Operating Officer at Nehalem Bay Health Center & Pharmacy.

Jamie brings healthcare leadership experience in clinical operations, organizational management and Federally Qualified Health Center operations. As COO, she works across departments to strengthen coordination, support staff and help advance organizational priorities.

“I am looking forward to continuing to build strong relationships across our organization and helping develop systems that give our teams the tools and support they need to provide excellent care,” Jamie said.

We are glad to have Jamie in this leadership role as NBHCP continues to strengthen its teams, operations and services for the community.

Students can receive care for a variety of health needs right at school, including regular checkups, sports physicals, illnesses and minor injuries, immunizations, prescription medications, routine lab tests and more.

Patti brings more than 30 years of healthcare leadership experience, including executive roles in finance and operations, as well as extensive nonprofit board service.

With a longstanding connection to the Nehalem Bay area, Patti was drawn to the opportunity to become more involved in the community while learning more about rural healthcare. She especially values NBHCP’s work to improve access to primary care, behavioral health, dental care, pharmacy services and school-based healthcare.

We’re hiring a Connected Care Community Health Worker!

This new position will help bring an exciting service to our community focused on supporting older adults and their families.

The Connected Care Community Health Worker will work directly with patients through home visits, care coordination and connections to local resources. They’ll help older adults with needs such as medication management, fall prevention, advance care planning and navigating healthcare and community services, while working closely with the patient’s primary care team.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with older adults, is compassionate and resourceful, and wants to make a meaningful difference in our community.

The position is fully benefited, and bilingual English/Spanish candidates are encouraged to apply.

🎒 Welcome back, Neah-Kah-Nie students and staff!

The NKN Student Health & Wellness Center is back for the 2026–27 school year and available to support students and district staff with convenient medical and behavioral health services.

Services include routine and preventive care, sick visits, sports physicals, immunizations, health screenings, behavioral health counseling and more.

Current hours:

📍 Wednesday & Thursday
Medical Services: 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
Behavioral Health: 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Closed for lunch: 12:30–1:30 p.m.

📍 Friday Behavioral Health
Garibaldi Grade School: 8:00–2:30 p.m.
Nehalem Elementary School: 8:00–2:30 p.m.

Things are looking up! 🌟

Drying progress over the weekend has been significant. ServPro is monitoring all affected areas today and equipment is beginning to come out as areas reach their drying goals.

Pharmacy and dental are open at regular hours. Medical appointments are resuming, though we are still operating at limited capacity as repairs continue. We appreciate your patience as we work through the final stages of recovery.
