Yesterday we did 5 previously scheduled surgeries in the morning. ( K9 Neuter, K9 Neuter + dental, K9 tumor removal, K9 dental, and another K9 dental )
We also saw 5 emergencies. ( Foreign body, dog bite, umbilical hernia with intestines through the body wall, dystocia, and open incisions) 3 of which turned into emergency surgeries. ( Exploratory surgery where 2 wooden food skewers were removed as well as a bone, hernia repair on a 2 hour old puppy, and a c-section with 9 puppies revived successfully!!!)
In addition we saw 23 DVM appointments and 12 technician appointments.π³
While this is not a routine day, it is not an uncommon day for those in veterinary medicine. And we would not be able to provide the level of care we do without our dedicated support staff and our awesome DVMs. We hold our staff to high standards and we push them daily. But boy do we appreciate all they do for us and our patients. π
And Dr. Radcliffe turns 72 tomorrow and is still kicking butt πͺ! This crew has earned their vacation next week 10x over. Thank you all for trusting us with your pets over the years. And for being patient with us when we are running our circus on top speed. πͺ
Kudos to our staff and all those in veterinary medicine conducting their own circus! π«‘
