I’m excited to share a new professional milestone—I am now a Certificate Holder in Oral Systemic Education (CH-OSE)!
Continuing to learn and grow has always been important to me, especially when that knowledge can directly benefit the patients and families I serve. This education has deepened my understanding of how oral health and function connect with airway health, sleep, inflammation, nutrition, and overall wellness.
My goal has never been to look at just one symptom or one part of the body. I want to understand the bigger picture, recognize when additional support may be needed, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to help each person receive the best possible care.
I’m grateful for this opportunity to expand my knowledge and excited to bring what I have learned into my work at Myofunction Junction of Minnesota.

Happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸
Today we celebrate 250 years of freedom, courage, and the gift of living in this beautiful country.
As we enjoy the fireworks, family time, parades, and summer fun, may we also pause with gratitude for those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom.
Wishing you and your family a safe, joyful, and meaningful Independence Day!
Happy Birthday, America! ❤️🤍💙

On this Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.
Their sacrifice is more than a moment in history. It is the reason we are able to gather with family, enjoy our communities, and live with freedoms that should never be taken for granted.
At Myofunction Junction of MN, we are especially mindful today of the families who carry the weight of that sacrifice every day. May we remember with gratitude, speak their names with respect, and live in a way that honors their courage.
Wishing you a meaningful Memorial Day.
We remember. We honor. We are grateful.

🎉 Congratulations to this amazing kiddo on graduating from habit elimination therapy for object chewing!
Oral habits come in many forms. While thumb sucking and pacifier use are often the most recognized, habits such as object chewing, nail biting, lip biting, cheek chewing, tongue thrusting, open mouth posture, and mouth breathing can also affect oral and facial growth and development.
Over time, these habits may contribute to changes in dental alignment, jaw growth, tongue posture, swallowing patterns, breathing, and overall orofacial muscle function.
Habit elimination is not about shame. It is about awareness, support, and giving children the tools they need to succeed.
So proud of this young lady and the hard work it took to reach this goal! 👏

This week, I had the privilege of celebrating several amazing older kiddos who graduated from their habit elimination programs. 🎉
These kids were 9, 11, and 12 years old ...and I want other families to know something important:
You are not “too old” to get help.
You are not the only one still struggling with a thumb, finger, lip, nail, or other oral habit.
And you absolutely do not have to feel embarrassed.
Oral habits can be comforting, calming, and deeply automatic. For some kids, stopping is not as simple as “just quit.” They need encouragement, tools, accountability, and a plan that helps them feel successful instead of ashamed.
That is exactly what we work on together.
At Myofunction Junction of MN, I help children of all ages eliminate oral habits in a supportive, positive way while also looking at how the habit may be affecting the teeth, bite, lips, tongue, jaw growth, and airway.
To the older kids who worked hard these past few weeks: I am so proud of you. Your effort, honesty, and courage matter. You did something big. 💛👏👏👏💪
If your child is older and still has an oral habit, please know they are not alone — and help is available.

What a beautiful milestone to celebrate.
This sweet girl just graduated from thumb sucking habit elimination, and I am so very proud of her. Habits like thumb sucking can feel hard to stop, especially when they have been a source of comfort for a long time. But with support, consistency, and determination, big change is possible.
Habits like thumb sucking can impact the smile with the open bite, which is why stopping now is such an important step. Ending the habit helps create the opportunity for healthier growth, better oral rest posture, and improved function moving forward.
Today we celebrate her courage, her hard work, and this big win. (She is just the cutest!!)☺️

That little pouch might seem harmless… but habits like this can work against healthy oral development.
When children mostly eat soft foods, their jaws do not get the workout they were designed for. Chewing real, textured foods helps support jaw growth, muscle development, and better oral function.
And chewing on pouch spouts or other package tops over and over can place extra stress on the front teeth and reinforce habits we do not want to encourage.
Tiny everyday habits matter.
Strong chewing helps build strong foundations:
• healthier jaw development
• better muscle function
• improved oral rest posture
• more mature eating patterns
Soft foods can be convenient, but they should not replace opportunities to chew.
If your child prefers only soft foods, chews on spouts, or seems to avoid textured foods, it may be worth taking a closer look.
