If you've tried therapy and more than one medication and still don't feel better, it's easy to start believing the problem is you. It isn't.
Depression is one of the most common conditions in the world as the WHO estimates around 280 million people live with it, and here in the U.S. roughly 21 million adults have a major depressive episode each year. For many of them, the first treatments simply don't work. In the largest real-world depression study to date, only about a third of people reached remission on their first antidepressant, and nearly one in three didn't respond even after trying several.
That has a name: treatment-resistant depression. It doesn't mean you've failed or that nothing will ever help. It means it may be time for a different kind of care, one designed for people who've already tried the usual paths. At Marpa Minds, our clinicians take a full history, walk you through your options, and only move forward if it's genuinely right for you.
You were never the problem. And you don't have to figure this out alone. 💛
