A Message to Our Community:

After careful consideration of our finances and other matters, we made the difficult decision to wind-down BNI. BNI ceased research operations in late May 2026, and our few remaining employees will conclude their employment as of August 31, 2026.

We are committed to ensuring a responsible and orderly wind-down of our operations. On August 19, 2026, we commenced a judicial dissolution proceeding under New York’s Not-for-Profit Corporation Law. The proceeding is before Judge Walsh in the Supreme Court of New York, Westchester County, case no. 71239-2026.

We are deeply grateful to our researchers, staff, collaborators, and partners for their dedication and contributions throughout our history. Their work has advanced important scientific knowledge, and we are proud of what this organization has accomplished.

This week we had the pleasure of hosting Elizabeth C. Engle, M.D., Director of the F.M. Kirby Center and Program in Neurobiology at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Engle is a Professor of Neurology and Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School, an Investigator with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and an Associate Member of the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard.

Last week, we welcomed Timothy W. Dunn, Ph.D., Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Duke University, and Robert Baldoni, Jr., CEO/Co-Founder of Dannee.ai.
