That third baby just hits different.
Not because they’re your third. Because by the time they arrive, you’ve finally learned what matters.
They slow down time. They quiet the constant need to do more, achieve more, and get everything “right.” They gently unravel the perfectionism you’ve carried for years.
This baby didn’t just make me a mom again.
He reminded me that life isn’t something to race through. It’s something to be present for. For the first time, I’m not rushing to the next stage. I’m not wishing for more sleep or counting down to the next milestone.
I’m letting myself stay here.
Because I know these late night feeds, sleepy snuggles, tiny fingers wrapped around mine, and slow mornings won’t last forever.
Maybe that’s the unexpected gift of a third baby. They don’t just grow your family. Sometimes, they heal the parts of you that forgot how to simply be.
Has motherhood ever changed you in a way you didn’t expect?
