The White River Junctioin VA Medical Center is a Joint Commission accredited surgical complexity level 2 facility, caring for Veterans across the two state hospital service area of Vermont and New Hampshire. Located on a 64 acre hillside setting in the Upper Connecticut River Valley, the WRJ VAMC is a 60-bed primary and secondary care academic medical center. WRJ VAMC’s acute care services include

a full range of primary, secondary, and specialty care. As an academic medical center, WRJ VAMC is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies that support clinical care, education, and research missions and drives WRJ VAMC’s emergency preparedness responsibilities. The WRJ VAMC is a member of the VA New England Healthcare System (VISN 1), which includes facilities in the six New England states (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont). It operates outpatient clinics in five Vermont locations: Bennington, Brattleboro, Burlington, Newport, and Rutland; and two New Hampshire communities, Keene and Littleton.

On Sunday, August 2nd, we welcomed the Widows Sons Motorcycle Riders Association for their annual visit. Since 2009, their Vet Ride—organized by members of the Pulaski Lodge in Wells River—has provided generous support for Veterans at the White River Junction VA Medical Center. What started with 25 riders and $1,200 in donations has grown tremendously: in 2026, eighty bikers arrived after raising $150,000. Their contributions have funded writing workshops, educational materials for our women’s clinic, clothing for Veterans in need, gardening supplies, homeless program support, and recreational therapy for hundreds of disabled Veterans. We truly appreciate the ongoing support and friendship of the Widows Sons, no matter the amount raised or the number of riders each year. They have been steadfast supporters of our mission to serve Veterans and this past Sunday, we were pleased to thank them with a special appreciation cookout.

The ramp from I-89 Northbound to I-91 Northbound in Hartford, VT is closing for paving operations on Wednesday July 15, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Drivers will be directed to Exit 1 off of I-89 and return southbound to the interchange using Route 4 to Route 5.

Plan ahead and add an additional 30-40 minute travel time when commuting to our main campus in White River Junction at 163 Veterans Drive.

In partnership with Price Chopper’s “Stars, Stripes & Summer” initiative to support local food banks, White River Junction’s CDCE team helped distribute more than 1000 bags of non-perishable groceries to Veterans in need. The drive, which concludes this week, has reached our home-bound patients, those visiting the infusion suite, Veterans at the weekly farmer’s market, and individuals checking in for Primary Care appointments. Also, groceries were distributed at our recent Open House event, making this a very successful Initiative - thank you Price Chopper!
