This summer, Buckeye Ranch team members came together to learn, connect, and grow through our Summer Learning Series, a professional development experience focused on strengthening clinical practice, supporting staff well-being, and expanding trauma-informed care skills.

From sessions titled Vicarious Resilience, For the Love of Play, and Make It Make Sense to our 2026 Intervention Symposium, participants explored practical, hands-on strategies they can apply every day to better support children, youth, and families.

The series culminated in our Intervention Sumposium, with experiential learning opportunities centered on Dr. Bruce Perry's principles of Regulate, Relate, Reason, along with an inspiring panel discussion featuring Dr. Pam Scott and Dr. Gil Greene, who shared valuable insights on effective intervention and clinical practice.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated and to the internal and external experts who made this series possible. Your commitment to learning, collaboration, and growth helps strengthen our culture and enhances the care we provide every day. đź’™

Today, on Grief Awareness Day, we pause to recognize the silent struggles, the unspoken pain, and the strength it takes to carry on after loss. Grief is not a linear path, it’s a deeply personal journey that looks different for everyone.

Whether you’re grieving the loss of a loved one, a relationship, a dream, or a part of yourself, your feelings are valid. There is no “right” way to grieve, and no timeline for healing.

If you’re grieving today, know this:

-You are not alone.
-Your pain is real.
-Healing is possible, even if it doesn’t feel like it right now.

If grief isn't something you are carrying today, know there may be others around you who silently are. Let's remember to be gentle with one another and act with kindness.

At The Buckeye Ranch's charter school, The Bonner Academy, students receive the individualized mental health support they need to thrive.

The Bonner Academy program focuses on both behavioral health support and academic goals, building upon students’ existing strengths. To reduce barriers to academic learning, students learn to manage symptoms and increase their level of functioning and stability so they may return to their home school district.

Here's what one student, Martay, had to say about his time at The Bonner Academy:

“When I came to The Bonner Academy, I saw the staff get along with each other and the kids. That modeled positive relationships for us. For me, it was easy to be myself after I got to know the staff. The kids can be themselves here."

Caregivers can't pour from an empty cup.

That's why The Buckeye Ranch is proud to provide Behavioral Health Respite Care for families of OhioRISE-enrolled youth.

This service offers temporary, short-term relief for caregivers with a documented respite need as part of their OhioRISE Care Plan, giving families time to rest, recharge, and continue providing the support their children need.

Behavioral Health Respite Care is available in Franklin, Madison, Hamilton, Clark, and Greene counties.

Because when caregivers are supported, families are stronger and youth can thrive.
