There are so many misconceptions about health. Two that come to mind are:
1- Being thin means you're healthy (You can be doing the starvation diet which causes you to be greatly malnourished and depleted. You may "look good," but your body is suffering).
2- Being symptom free means you're fine or that the problem went away (Pain is a signal to tell you something is going on. In the acute stages it will be intermittent. It doesn't mean the problem went away when you're not hurting. It only means your body stopped yelling at you. . . for a moment.)
The New Year and the summer are two times of the year we pay attention to what shape we are in and are more likely to take care of ourselves.
However the scale doesn't tell the whole story. We usually have a certain feeling (usually negative) about getting back in that bathingsuit. However being healthy is so much more than fitting back in that suit from last year, or better yet a decade ago!
Health is something we need to work at consistently. First and foremost, taking care of your spine and nervous system with regular Chirorpactic care, allows for your body to function/work better, not just feel better. However, feeling better does help make creating a routine easier.
This summer, support your adjustements with these simple seasonal habits suggested by Optavia:
☀️ Stay hydrated, especially on those hot summer days,
🥗 Build summer meals around protein, fiber-rich veggies, and healthy fats,
🚶 Take advantage of longer days with evening walks or extra movement outside,
🍉 Keep nutrient-dense snacks on hand for beach days, road trips, and busy weekends (Talk to Dr. B about how easy it is to add Optavia to your routine and the nutrition it provides).
😴 Protect your sleep routine, even during summer travel and late nights
As you continue building healthy routines, remember that the small, consistent choices you make each day are creating meaningful change from the inside out. Because this summer isn’t about chasing perfection — it’s about recognizing how far you’ve come and feeling good in your body along the way.
