On the stroke of midnight tonight, you can resolve to be better, if you like…
to be fitter,
to eat cleaner,
to work harder.

On the stroke of midnight tonight,
you can resolve to become a whole new you,
if you so choose.

Or, you can take a moment to acknowledge, all you already are.
Because it’s a lot.
You’re a lot.

And you deserve to be commended.

On the stroke of midnight tonight, perhaps you could congratulate yourself, for coping.
For breaking, again,
and for rebuilding, again.

For catching the stones life has thrown at you,
and using them to build your castle that little bit stronger.

You have endured, my friend.

And I don’t see the need to resolve to become a whole new you,
when you are already so very much indeed.

Happy new year.

You made it.

Now let us face another 365 day-turn, arms wide,
accepting, embracing and ‘seeing’ each other,
for all we are..

The Greeks defined 8 types of Love..... so Love yourself or someone else today....

1. “Eros” or Erotic Love Eros. Eros is sexual or passionate love

2. “Philia.” The hallmark of philia, or friendship, is shared goodwill.

3. “Storge” or Familiar Love. ...
Storge is a natural form of affection that often flows between parents and their children, and children for their parents.

4. “Ludus” or Playful. The Greeks thought of ludus as a playful form of love
Ludus is that feeling we have when we go through the early stages of falling in love with someone, e.g. the fluttering heart, flirting, teasing, and feelings of euphoria.

5. “Mania” or Obsessive Love. Mania love is a type of love that leads a partner into a type of madness and obsessiveness.

6. “Pragma” or Enduring Love. Pragma is a love that has aged, matured and developed over time. It is beyond the physical, it has transcended the casual, and it is a unique harmony that has formed over time.

7. “Philautia” or Self Love. The Greeks understood that in order to care for others, we must first learn to care for ourselves.

8. “Agape” or Selfless Love. The highest and most radical type of love according to the Greeks is agape, or selfless unconditional love. It is Spiritual Love.

Good news! Free Computer classes will start on Monday Sept 20th, at 9am at the Whiteville Senior Center, located at 827 Washington St, Whiteville, NC 28472.
All adults are welcome to attend. This is a great opportunity to learn computer basics in a safe and supportive environment. Call the Whiteville Senior Center at 910-640-6602 with any questions.

Dare to Be

When a new day begins, dare to smile gratefully.
When there is darkness, dare to be the first to shine a light.
When there is injustice, dare to be the first to condemn it.
When something seems difficult, dare to do it anyway.
When life seems to beat you down, dare to fight back.
When there seems to be no hope, dare to find some.
When you’re feeling tired, dare to keep going.
When times are tough, dare to be tougher.
When love hurts you, dare to love again.
When someone is hurting, dare to help them heal.
When another is lost, dare to help them find the way.
When a friend falls, dare to be the first to extend a hand.
When you cross paths with another, dare to make them smile.
When you feel great, dare to help someone else feel great too.
When the day has ended, dare to feel as you’ve done your best.
