Our Board Chair, Fabio, stopped by our monthly Food Distribution to share more about this community resource and the impact it has for local families.

Each month, we welcome community members to our free, open-market style food distribution, where families can choose from fresh produce and nutritious food items based on what works best for them.

Our next distribution is Wednesday, August 26 from 2–4 PM at our Safe Families location in Santa Fe Springs.

📍 10951 Laurel Ave., Santa Fe Springs, CA

This resource is open to the community, so please help us spread the word to anyone who may benefit.

Helping families find home, making mental health a priority, showing up for parents, advocating for our communities, keeping kids safe and making sure families have what they need to thrive?

That’s kinda chic.

At The Whole Child, the trend may be fun, but the work behind it is real. Every day, our team shows up for children and families with support, resources and care that help move them toward healing, health and homes.

Our community showed up for our kids in such a big way!

We are incredibly grateful to Baby2Baby for 97 backpacks, Rose Hills Park & Mortuaries for 100 backpacks, We Are LASD Wives for 9 backpacks and 4 boxes of school supplies, La Mirada Heights Senior Living for 53 backpacks, and Solidarity Bears for their generous backpack drive supporting the children and families we serve.

These donations provided at least 259 backpacks, plus additional school supplies and donations from Solidarity Bears, helping students start the school year feeling prepared and supported. Thank you for continuing to show up for our children, our families, and our community. We are so grateful for your support!

Today, on National Nonprofit Day, we celebrate the mission that guides everything we do: We empower families toward healing, health, and homes.

For us, that mission comes to life in many ways. From helping a child mentally heal, supporting a parent through the earliest years of their child’s life, connecting a family with nutritious food, or helping someone find a safe and stable place to call home.

Every family’s journey looks different, and so does the support they may need along the way. Through Mental Health, Housing, Parent Enrichment, and Nutrition, we are proud to walk alongside families as they build stronger, healthier and more stable futures.

Because our mission is more than words. It’s the work we do every day.

Our team had the opportunity to attend the 2026 Open Minds Service Excellence Institute Conference in San Francisco this week!

The conference brought together leaders from across the health and human services field to learn, connect, and explore new approaches to strengthening services, using data to drive decisions, improving organizational performance, and better meeting the changing needs of the communities we serve.

Opportunities like this allow our team to learn from others, bring new ideas back to our organization and continue strengthening how we support children and families.

We’re proud to see The Whole Child represented on a national stage! 💜👏 This week, our very own Laura-Elena traveled to Austin, Texas, to present at the 2026 National Conference on Domestic Violence alongside Stephanie Whack, Survivor and Advocate.

Their presentation, “Surviving Abuse and Homelessness: The Power of Housing Programs,” explored the critical connection between domestic violence and homelessness and how housing programs designed around survivors’ unique needs can create pathways toward long-term safety, stability, and healing.

As Laura-Elena shared, “When we center survivors’ unique needs and create access to safe, stable housing, we do more than meet an immediate need, we help create the foundation for a future filled with possibility.”

We are incredibly proud of Laura-Elena for bringing her knowledge, experience, and passion to this national conversation and representing The Whole Child’s commitment to helping survivors and families move toward safer, more stable futures. 💜🏠
