United Regional’s Case Management and Social Work teams recently supported a drink drive benefiting local fire departments by donating water and sports drinks for firefighters and first responders serving our community each day. Their generosity reflects the spirit of teamwork, service, and community partnership that extends beyond their daily roles.

Extreme heat is impacting more people across our community this summer. Over the past year, United Regional’s Emergency Department has seen an increase in patients seeking care for heat-related illnesses.

With outdoor events, sports, and other activities still ahead, a few simple precautions can help you stay safe. Drink plenty of water, wear lightweight clothing, take breaks in cool spaces, and limit prolonged heat exposure whenever possible.

It's also important to know the warning signs of heat-related illness. Symptoms may include dizziness, headache, nausea, muscle cramps, confusion, or fainting. If symptoms become severe, seek medical attention immediately.

Learn more about preventing heat-related illness and when to seek care here: https://www.unitedregional.org/services/emergency-trauma/heat-stroke.

Hernia repair is a common surgical procedure that occurs after tissue or an organ pushes through a weakened area of muscle. Understanding how hernias develop and when treatment may be needed can help individuals make informed decisions about their health.

For many patients, hernia repair can help relieve discomfort, restore daily function, and prevent future complications. Learning about available treatment options is an important step in supporting long-term wellness and quality of life.

At United Regional, our experienced surgical team provides personalized care focused on each patient's needs, offering support, expertise, and guidance throughout every stage of treatment to help patients feel informed and confident in their care decisions.
