Mental health care should be a place where people feel safe bringing their whole selves.

This Pride Month, we celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and reaffirm our commitment to providing affirming, compassionate care to everyone.

You deserve support, respect, and a space where you can be authentically you. 🌈

Greetings from The Co-Op!

It’s been a minute since we’ve said hello, so we wanted to reintroduce ourselves.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing a little about each of our counselors — who we are, who we love working with, and what you can expect when you sit down in our offices.

At The Co-Op, we believe therapy should feel collaborative, safe, and grounded in real life.

We’re glad you’re here and can't wait to share more.

Juneteenth marks the end of slavery in the U.S.—but not the end of the struggle for justice, equity, and healing.

For many, this day holds both celebration and grief: honoring freedom while acknowledging the generational trauma that followed.

As a counseling space, we hold room for both and recognize that true liberation includes emotional safety, access to care, and the right to heal from systems that were never built with everyone in mind.

Healing is part of resistance. Mental health is part of liberation.
Today, we honor the resilience, brilliance, and ongoing fight for freedom in all its forms.

✨ Wellness Wednesday... but make it Thursday ✨

Have you ever wondered why you suddenly feel anxious, shutdown, or social? It's your nervous system at work!

🧠Polyvagal Theory teaches us that regulation isn't just a mental process- it's biological.

Your body is constantly scanning the world for cues of safety or danger. Depending on what it detects, you shift into one of three states:

🟢Ventral Vagal- Safe & Connected
🔴Sympathetic- Fight or Flight
🔵Dorsal Vagal- Shutdown or Freeze

💡These states aren't good or bad- they're your body's way of trying to protect you.

The more we understand our nervous system, the more compassion we can show ourselves when we're triggered, tired, or just trying to get through the day.

This week tune in:
💭What state are you in right now?
💭What helps you return to safety?

🌈 Wellness Wednesday | Pride Edition 🌈

Your mental health matters. Your identity matters. Your joy matters.

As we celebrate Pride this month, we honor the strength it takes to be yourself in a world that hasn’t always made that easy. Whether you’re out, questioning, somewhere in between- or simply holding space for others- your journey is valid.

✨ This month, practice wellness that affirms who you are:
• Set boundaries with love
• Rest without guilt
• Find community that sees you
• Speak kindly to yourself
• Celebrate your becoming

You deserve peace, safety, and support- not just in June, but always.
❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

🌿Wellness Wednesday: Executive Dysfunction Isn’t Laziness🌿

Ever felt frozen by a simple task?
Know exactly what you should do… but still couldn’t do it?
That’s not a character flaw — it’s executive dysfunction.

🧠 Executive function is the brain’s ability to plan, start, organize, and finish tasks. When that system gets overwhelmed or stuck, things feel impossible.

You’re not broken. You might just need:

✨ Micro-steps instead of giant goals

⏳ Timers, visuals, or checklists that externalize structure

🤝 A body double (someone nearby while you work)

🌱 A little compassion: “This is hard because it’s hard.”

There’s no shame in needing a different approach. Your brain deserves support, not self-blame.

💬What's one small task you've been avoiding- and what would a tiny first step look like?

🌿Wellness Wednesday: Easing Anxious Thoughts🌿

Anxious Thoughts ≠ Truth
Just because your brain says it, doesn't mean it's true.

Anxiety often whispers worst-case scenarios or plays the "what if" game. But you can challenge those thoughts- gently, like a friend would.

🔍 Notice the thought:
-“I’m going to mess this up.”
-"I should be doing more"
-"I'm not good enough"

💭 Ask yourself:
-Is this fact or fear?
-What would I say to a friend thinking this?
-Has this actually happened before?

🛠️Flip the Script:
-I've made it through hard things before and am capable.
-Even if this doesn't go perfectly, I will be okay.
-I'm doing the best I can and that is enough.

Your thoughts are not the boss of you. You are allowed to pause, question, and reframe.

Anxiety is a part of being human- but how you talk to yourself matters. You are not alone in this.

✨Be gentle with yourself✨

🌿Wellness Wednesday 🌿

Here is your midweek reminder that self-care isn't always pretty, perfect, or Instagram-worthy.

Sometimes it's:
✅Drinking water before coffee
✅Turning your phone to Do Not Disturb
✅Letting the dishes and laundry wait
✅Saying "no" and meaning it

Real self-care meets you where you are - even if that means your bed.

💬What's one thing that you're doing today to take care of you?

🌿Welcome to Wellness Wednesday🌿

Every Wednesday, we’ll be dropping small reminders, calming tools, and gentle encouragement—because wellness isn’t a finish line, it’s a practice (preferably one done in cozy socks).

Whether you need a deep breath, a new tool, or just proof that you’re not the only human feeling a little wobbly—we’re here. 💚

💬What can you set down (just for today) to lighten your load?
