Ever wonder just how many germs are lying around the playroom? 🦠
Afraid your kiddo may bring more home from therapy than what you actually sent them for? 🤲🏼

We don't blame you. Actually, we worry too! For those reasons (and many more😷) Ms. Adri regularly sanitizes the playroom and lobby making it a safe space for all.

We love those sticky hands that come in. 👐🏼 We want to keep them coming in. Our sick policy is in place for the well-being of everyone involved.🤧

Although sick kids are inevitable during flu season, we don't want to be the reason. 🙏🏼

💛 Identifying Feelings Matters 💛

One of our favorite ways to help kids understand emotions is by using the movie Inside Out. It does such a great job showing that feelings are normal, important, and sometimes a little loud — and that they can influence our choices if we don’t learn how to understand them.

✨ Play is powerful.
Play allows children (and adults!) to express feelings through nonverbal communication when words are hard to find. Through play, emotions can be identified safely and naturally.

🧠 Meet the basic needs first.
Before diving into feelings, it’s important to make sure basic needs are met — are they/you hungry, thirsty, tired, or needing movement or outside time? A regulated body makes it much easier to regulate emotions.

🛠️ Identify → then cope.
Once a feeling is identified, we can work together to find healthy ways to cope or manage that feeling — whether that’s taking a break, using calming tools, moving our bodies, or talking it out.

🤍 Most importantly: be a safe space.
The greatest gift you can offer someone working through big feelings is safety — emotional safety, patience, and understanding. When someone feels safe, growth and healing can happen.

Feelings aren’t “good” or “bad” — they’re information. And learning to understand them is a skill that lasts a lifetime. 🌈

🌈 International Play Therapy Week 🌈

Play is a child’s natural language. Through play, children express thoughts, feelings, and experiences they may not yet have words for. Toys, games, art, and imagination become tools for communication, helping children work through emotions, build coping skills, and make sense of their world in a safe and supportive space.

This week, we celebrate the power of play and the meaningful healing that can happen when children are given the freedom to express themselves just as they are. 🧸💙
