Happy 25th birthday to our beloved Cairns Family Stuttering Camp at Wichita State University!

This year, 11 campers joined in the fun with 7 graduate students in speech-language pathology to conquer their fears of stuttering and learn many strategies for having good communication skills.

A huge thank you to our fearless leaders, Brian Ray, MA, CCC-SLP, BCS-SCF and Julie Cailteux, MA, CCC-SLP, for making this exceptional camp a reality!

Brian Ray is the only speech-language pathologist in the state of Kansas to be a Board Certified Specialist in Fluency Disorders. For more information about Fluency services, contact the Evelyn Hendren Cassat Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic at 316-978-3289.

Join Wichita State University Communication Sciences and Disorders for Aphasia Awareness Day from 2–5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1 at the Wichita State Metropolitan Complex!

Learn about aphasia, a communication disorder often caused by stroke or other brain injuries, and discover effective communication strategies from people with aphasia and speech language pathologists.

This event is open to the public, and especially beneficial for students, healthcare providers, caregivers, and anyone interested in learning more about aphasia.

CSD faculty got to tour the new home of the Evelyn Hendren Cassat Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic at the Wichita Biomedical Campus today and are already planning for the great things our students will do for clients within these big & beautiful walls!

We plan to move to our downtown clinic next May and have the honor of being the first patient serving clinic there, beginning June 2027. 💛🖤 🌾

Because autism is a spectrum, it can present itself in different forms at different ages, and figuring out the right kind of treatment for the individual is part of the challenge.
