June is Aphasia Awareness Month

Aphasia is a communication disorder that affects a person's ability to speak, understand language, read, and write. It is most commonly caused by a stroke or brain injury, but it does not affect intelligence.

People with aphasia know what they want to say, but they may simply have difficulty finding the words or understanding language. With support, patience, and speech therapy, many individuals can improve their communication skills and continue to connect with the people around them.

This month, help us raise awareness by learning about aphasia, practicing patience during conversations, and supporting those living with communication challenges.
