After seeing so many patients over the years, these are some of the harder conversations I find myself having every day:
-Vein disease doesn’t just go away.
If symptoms have started, they typically don’t resolve on their own. You may have days where things feel better than others, but the underlying issue usually doesn’t disappear without treatment.
-It’s usually progressive.
Vein disease often changes over time. What starts as occasional heaviness, swelling, visible veins, or discomfort can gradually become more noticeable if left unmanaged.
-Compression socks are management, not a cure.
Compression can help support circulation and relieve symptoms while you wear them, but they don’t remove damaged veins or treat the root cause.
-It’s not always cosmetic.
Vein symptoms can show up as aching, heaviness, swelling, cramping, fatigue, and discomfort, not just visible veins.
-You don’t have to wait until it gets “bad enough.”
A lot of people assume they should wait until symptoms become severe before getting checked, but earlier conversations can help you better understand what’s going on and what options may be available.
