Please join us in congratulating our October Residence Week graduates! 🎉

This group includes new Right at Home owners, an existing owner, and team members from established Right at Home offices. Throughout the week, they came together to learn, collaborate, build connections, and deepen their understanding of the Right at Home system.

One of the most meaningful Residence Week traditions is graduation, where classmates recognize one another and share heartfelt reflections on how their peers shaped their experience. It's always inspiring to see individuals from different backgrounds, roles, and experiences come together to support and learn from one another.

Congratulations to this exceptional class on reaching this milestone. We can't wait to see the impact they'll make as they continue their Right at Home journey. 🩵🧡

Earlier this month, Air Force veteran Ron and Army veteran Clarence traveled to Washington, D.C., on a Queen City Honor Flight, visiting memorials honoring the sacrifices of those who served before them and alongside them.

Right at Home Rock Hill owner and Navy veteran Jim Ryan joined them as one of their guardians on the trip. He was proud to help celebrate this unforgettable experience and two American heroes.

"Ron and Clarence, thank you for your service and for allowing me to share this meaningful moment with you. I am proud to be part of this one last mission!"

“I don't need anyone coming into my house.”

Families hear this one a lot.

And it's understandable.

Accepting help can feel like giving up independence, admitting something has changed, or becoming a burden to someone else.

That's why patience matters.

Give your loved one a voice in the process. Start with what they want help with—not everything you think they need.

Sometimes a little control over the decision makes accepting help much easier.

A few weeks ago, members of the Right at Home corporate team had the opportunity to volunteer with The Furniture Project - Omaha, where service took many forms. Some assembled toddler beds, some shopped for families in need, and others helped prepare incoming donations for their next home.

We also had the chance to connect with founder Drew Gerken, who shared the story behind the organization and the ways our missions intersect. His commitment to helping people live with dignity in their homes reflects the same values that inspire the work we do every day. We’re grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside an organization making such a meaningful impact in our community.

How do you tell a parent you think they may need some help?

It's one of the hardest conversations families have.

Instead of starting with, “You can't do this anymore,” try starting with questions:

“What would make things easier for you?”

“What are you finding more difficult lately?”

“What would help you feel more comfortable staying at home?”

Sometimes the best place to start isn't telling someone what they need.

It's listening to what they want.

We stand in appreciation of the traditions, resilience, and wisdom of Indigenous communities. Caregiving has long been embraced as a sacred duty in Indigenous cultures, rooted in deep respect and care for elders, children, and community. At Right at Home, we deeply admire and honor that legacy and remain committed to care that reflects dignity, connection, and cultural understanding. 🧡🌿

The best way to combat ageism is to change how we think about aging.

Growing older is not about slowing down. It's about continuing to learn, connect, contribute, and find meaning in each new chapter. Today is Ageism Awareness Day, let's celebrate aging as a journey filled with purpose and possibility. 🧡

One of the biggest fears families have about home care is that their loved one will lose their independence.

But good care isn't about taking over.

It's about helping someone continue doing the things they can do—and providing assistance with the things that have become more difficult.

The goal is to support independence, not replace it.

Because staying independent doesn't necessarily mean doing everything alone.

5 signs your loved one may need a little extra help at home:

The house isn't being kept up like it used to.
Meals are being skipped or becoming difficult to prepare.
Appointments or medications are being forgotten.
Getting dressed, bathing, or moving around is becoming harder.
You're finding yourself increasingly worried when you're not there.

None of these automatically means someone needs full-time care.

But they may be signs that it's time for a conversation.
