Some stories only you can tell.

The childhood memory that still makes you smile. The person who changed your life. The lesson you learned the hard way.

Your loved ones may know what happened. Do they know what it meant to you?

Being Able to Live — Before, During, and After a Death gives you space to preserve those memories alongside your wishes and important information.

Start with one memory you want someone to know. Write it down.

At Jackson Mortuary, we have seen how preparation before a loss can make a meaningful difference for families when difficult moments arrive.

Today, we're proud to share the message behind Being Able to Live — Before, During, and After a Death, written by fifth-generation funeral director Torrance K. Jackson.

Being Able to Live goes beyond starting important conversations.

It's about preserving our stories, communicating our wishes, organizing important information, understanding our options, preparing for what may come, and creating a plan the people we love can actually use.

We invite you to take a moment to watch Torrance explain the heart behind the book in his own words.

Because some of the things that can make tomorrow easier are things we have the opportunity to do today.

Jackson Mortuary is proud to celebrate a meaningful accomplishment from one of our own.

Torrance K. Jackson has officially released Being Able to Live — Before, During, and After a Death.

Drawing from nearly three decades of experience serving families, Torrance created this book after witnessing something again and again: families facing questions during grief that might have been easier to answer while their loved one was still here.

The result is a guide designed to encourage meaningful conversations, preserve personal and family stories, clarify wishes, organize important information, and help individuals think intentionally about life and legacy.

But the message reaches beyond preparing for death.

It asks all of us to consider what we can do while we’re still here.

We invite our families, friends, and community to join us in congratulating Torrance K. Jackson and to learn more about Being Able to Live at BeingAbleToLive.com.
