Celeste Racette is an amazing speaker, and we were honored to have her share her knowledge about the Joan of Arc sculpture and Wichita’s sister city, Orléans, France.

The Joan of Arc statue was gifted to the City of Wichita in 1970 by the French city of Orléans, whose liberation from N**i occupation in 1944 was aided by a Kansas Regiment of infantry.

Thank you, Celeste, for sharing this fascinating piece of history and helping us learn more about the special connection between Wichita and Orléans!
