Swimsuits, sweat and summer heat can sometimes lead to discomfort in sensitive areas. ☀️

A few simple habits can help prevent irritation: change out of wet swimsuits and workout clothes promptly, choose breathable clothing and skip scented washes, sprays and other products around the vaginal area.

Persistent itching, burning, unusual discharge or odor? Instead of guessing or self-treating, give us a call for an appointment to discuss: 316-858-7100.

☀Hot summer days can be uncomfortable for anyone — but pregnancy can make it even harder for your body to handle the heat.☀

If you’re pregnant, take extra care on high-temperature days: drink plenty of water, rest in air-conditioned spaces when you can, avoid the hottest parts of the day and pay attention to warning signs like dizziness, headache, nausea, muscle cramps or feeling faint.

A little planning can help you stay safer and more comfortable all summer long.

Pregnancy comes with a lot of new sensations, and not every ache or pain means something is wrong. As your body changes, symptoms like back pain, pelvic pressure, leg cramps, mild cramping or round ligament pain can be common.

But you should always call your provider if pain is severe, getting worse or comes with symptoms like bleeding, fever, dizziness, vision changes, swelling, high blood pressure or decreased fetal movement.

At Heartland Women’s Group, we’re here to help you sort through what’s expected, what needs attention and when it’s time to be seen.

Mood swings. Cramps. Bloating. Tears over absolutely nothing.

Some PMS symptoms are common, but that does not mean you have to just power through them every month. If your symptoms are intense, disruptive or affecting your work, relationships, sleep or daily life, it may be time to talk with an OB/GYN.

For some women, severe symptoms before their period may be related to PMDD, a more serious form of PMS that can cause significant mood changes and interfere with daily life. Other conditions, including anxiety, depression, thyroid concerns and perimenopause, can also overlap with PMS symptoms.

At Heartland Women’s Group, we can help you better understand your cycle, track patterns and talk through options for relief.

💙At Heartland Women’s Group, we spend a lot of time talking with women about taking care of themselves. During Men’s Health Month, we’re also thinking about the people our patients love.💙

The men we love — husbands, dads, brothers, sons, partners and friends — may not always talk about their health, but regular checkups and screenings can make a big difference.

From blood pressure and cholesterol to diabetes risk and cancer screenings, a simple conversation with a doctor can help identify concerns early and support long-term health.

This month, share this reminder with someone you love.

Pregnancy comes with a lot of changes, but some symptoms deserve a closer look.

As we wrap up Preeclampsia Awareness Month, we’re helping moms know the warning signs: severe headaches, changes in vision, swelling in the face or hands, chest pain, shortness of breath, belly pain, nausea or a sudden rise in blood pressure.

Preeclampsia can be serious, but knowing what to watch for can help you get care sooner. If you’re pregnant or recently delivered and something doesn’t feel right, don’t wait it out. Call us or seek emergency care immediately: 316-858-7100.
