Yeah, actually. I have a lot of problems 😭

06/06/2026

Sorry, can't help that I'm a yapper 😕

Did you know that we run labs in-house?

That means faster results, easy access through your patient portal, and a call from your midwife to walk through exactly what we’re seeing and what it means for you.

And it’s not just for our pregnant clients. We also offer comprehensive lab testing for non-pregnant patients who are looking to get to the root cause of symptoms, optimize their health, and start feeling their best.

Because you deserve more than “everything looks normal.” You deserve answers. 🤍

This is yet another wonderful repeat family of mine! 🤍 For this post, we’ll be using baby’s initials rather than sharing his full name 🫶

ASDC surprised us all by taking his sweet time joining us earthside. Part of what made this journey especially challenging for mom was getting a firsthand lesson in what prodromal labor really is—and how mentally and physically exhausting it can be.

We truly thought ASDC was making his debut all the way back at 37 weeks, only to realize mom was experiencing the full experience of prodromal labor. She saw a chiropractor, stretched, worked through the Miles Circuit, and despite all of that, the prodromal labor continued. Through it all, she carried herself with so much grace and continued showing up with a smile on her face!

It wasn’t until around 41.5 weeks that ASDC finally decided it was time to make his entrance ✨
Thankfully, all of that prodromal labor paid off! Once active labor truly began, things moved pretty quickly—and he wasted no time making his way into the world. Dad caught his sweet boy with steady hands during a beautiful standing delivery 🥹

ASDC is home and thriving, and during their postpartum visit, big sister seemed completely mesmerized by her newest sibling 🥰

I’m always grateful to walk alongside all of my families, but there’s something especially special about getting to do it more than once. It was such an honor to be part of this sweet family of five’s journey—not once, but twice! Congratulations, mom and dad!

Absolutely NOT ❌

Modern culture treats rest like laziness. Postpartum recovery is expected to happen quietly in the background while women jump back into cleaning, errands, exercise, work, and “bouncing back” as quickly as possible.

But biologically? Your body does not see 2 weeks postpartum as “back to normal.”

You are healing a massive internal wound where the placenta detached, recovering hormonally, regulating blood volume shifts, learning to feed and care for a newborn, and functioning on broken sleep. Rest is not a luxury during this time — it is productive healing.

Research has linked inadequate postpartum rest with increased bleeding, delayed healing, pelvic floor dysfunction, worsened mental health outcomes, and breastfeeding challenges.

There’s a reason so many traditional cultures protect the first 40 days postpartum. Across the world, women were historically cared for, fed, and encouraged to stay in bed or close to home while they recovered and bonded with baby.

And honestly? They were onto something.

The dishes can wait. The deep cleaning can wait. Your “productivity” can wait.

You will never get these early postpartum weeks back. Let yourself heal slowly. Let other people care for you for once. Reject the idea that your worth is tied to how quickly you can return to normal. 🤍

“Hallelujah” always on our lips. 🤍

Because no matter how many births we attend, we never stop being in awe of them.

The way a body grows an entire human from scratch.
The way hormones, instincts, muscles, and baby all work together in perfect coordination.
The way women rise to meet something so intense and powerful.

Birth is raw and unpredictable and sometimes incredibly hard. But it is also deeply sacred.

We feel unbelievably blessed to witness these moments over and over again — to support families as they meet their babies, and to watch the wisdom of the body unfold in real time.

Some days all you can say is hallelujah for the design of it all.

Up next on a very long list of announcements is sweet Mary-Ella! 🤍

This family is another repeat client that is especially near and dear to my heart. You got the briefest introduction to them in the last post when I shared about a mother graciously choosing to move locations from a planned home birth to the birth center when the need arose. Even knowing she didn’t have to make that change, she did. Looking back, it truly feels God-ordained—it meant I was able to make it to the other birth previously introduced, and it ended up being an important decision for this mama too.

After an incredibly fast labor with her last birth, Mary-Ella surprised us all by taking her sweet time coming earthside. Labor was longer than anticipated, but mom handled each wave with such strength and determination. All that hard work melted away the moment she was able to bring her sweet girl up onto her chest.
After getting mom settled into bed, we began noticing increased bleeding. Knowing this mama’s history meant we acted quickly rather than waiting. We immediately used herbs to support placental delivery and reduce bleeding. They helped initially, but additional support became necessary. Medications successfully stabilized mom, and IV fluids helped her recover after such an intense experience.

Being at the birth center meant we had both fluids readily available and extra hands to help when needed. (Shoutout to Jessica for starting her first IV in over 6 years—and getting it on the first try! 🙌)

Mom stabilized beautifully and was able to return home to her own bed just a few hours later and ultimately I’m thankful we moved locations where we had some additional support available.
Big brother and big sister are absolutely over the moon with their newest addition, and I’m so grateful to have been invited to walk alongside this family through two incredible journeys now. 🤍

One thing about birth workers… we genuinely do not care if you’re naked 😂

By the time you’ve spent enough hours catching babies, b***s become the medical equivalent of an elbow. Just another body part.

We are not judging your body, your stretch marks, your leaking b***s, your giant diaper underwear, or the fact that labor suddenly made clothing feel personally offensive.

Honestly most of us won’t even notice you’re naked because we’re too busy watching baby, timing contractions, grabbing snacks, and making sure you’re okay.

So yes hun… get your t**s out 🤍

One of the hardest parts of planning an out of hospital birth is the constant horror stories people feel entitled to share the second you mention it.

“My baby would have died if I had a homebirth.”
“Good thing I was in the hospital.”
“You never know what could happen.”

And while those experiences are real and valid… they often have absolutely nothing to do with your pregnancy, your risk factors, or your birth.

Many of the people saying this were never low risk candidates for homebirth to begin with. Midwives are highly trained in screening for, evaluating, and managing risk. Safe homebirth is not about pretending emergencies never happen — it’s about carefully selecting appropriate candidates, monitoring closely, and knowing when higher levels of care are needed.

Research consistently shows planned homebirth with a qualified provider can be as safe, or in some cases safer, for low risk mothers and babies.

You do not have to absorb every stranger’s fear as your own.

Your job is not to make decisions based on someone else’s birth trauma or circumstances. Your job is to understand your own health, your own pregnancy, your own values, and decide what risks you personally feel comfortable with. Every birth setting carries benefits, tradeoffs, and risks.

Fear-based comments are loud. But informed decision making should always be louder. 🤍

Social media talks a lot about informed consent — your right to hear the risks, benefits, and alternatives before agreeing to something.

This is one of the core values of midwifery care and something we take very seriously at Miracle Moments Midwifery.

But informed refusal matters just as much.

Clients have every right to decline a test, routine, recommendation, or intervention — even when it’s not the choice someone else would make. True autonomy only exists if you still feel respected and safe when your answer is “no.”

As providers, our job is not to control your decisions. Our job is to educate you, support you, and make sure you feel empowered to make the choices that align with your values and comfort level.

At Miracle Moments, you are encouraged to make your own informed decisions about glucose screening, ultrasounds, cervical exams, induction methods, and every other aspect of your care.

Because this is your body, your baby, and your birth. 🤍
