Today, our learners spent time planting flowers and enjoying a fun gardening activity at the clinic! 🌱🌷

Beyond being a fun seasonal activity, gardening can create opportunities to practice a variety of important skills, including following instructions, participating in group activities, taking turns, communication, fine motor skills, and working alongside peers.

We love incorporating meaningful, hands-on experiences that encourage learning, growth, and confidence while helping children build skills in a natural and engaging way. 🌼✨

🧡 Motor Room Fun! 🧡

Our motor room is our favorite space for movement, play, and learning! From our trampoline and sensory swing to other engaging activities, children have the opportunity to build important skills while having fun. 🤸✨

In ABA therapy, developing motor skills can help support coordination, balance, body awareness, planning and sequencing movements, and participation in everyday activities. These skills can also play an important role in building confidence and independence, both in and out of the clinic.

We want our social media community to get to know the incredible leader behind our clinical team! Dr. Marissa Kamlowsky is a Board-Certified and Licensed Behavior Analyst who is passionate about providing compassionate, evidence-based ABA services and ensuring every child and family receives the highest quality care.

With experience across a variety of clinical settings and a PhD in Behavioral Psychology from the University of Kansas, Dr. Kamlowsky is dedicated to bridging the gap between research and practice to help children with autism thrive. Her commitment to supporting families, mentoring clinicians, and strengthening our clinical programs is at the heart of everything she does.

Ever wonder what an Individualized Treatment Plan means in ABA therapy?

An Individualized Treatment Plan is a personalized roadmap designed specifically for each child based on their strengths, needs, and goals. No two plans are exactly alike because every child is unique! 💙

Here's an example of how a treatment plan might be developed:
🔹 Caregiver Interview – We learn about your child's history, strengths, challenges, and your family's goals.
🔹 Direct Assessment – A BCBA may observe and interact with your child to better understand their current skills and needs.
🔹 Behavior Assessment – We may identify behaviors that impact learning, communication, safety, or daily life.
🔹 Review & Collaboration – Relevant records may be reviewed, and caregivers and other providers may be consulted to help create a complete picture.
🔹 Goal Development – Meaningful, measurable goals may be created based on assessment results and family priorities.
🔹 Individualized Plan – A personalized ABA plan may be developed outlining recommended supports, teaching strategies, and skill-building targets.

Peer-Based Learning in ABA creates meaningful opportunities for children to build social, communication, and play skills in a supportive environment alongside their peers. Through shared activities, children can practice things like turn-taking, teamwork, conversation skills, flexibility, and emotional regulation in real-life social settings.

At Aluma Care, we know some of the most important learning happens through connection. Peer learning opportunities help children gain confidence, form friendships, and generalize the skills they work so hard on during individual sessions into everyday interactions.
