She canceled her appointment the night before.

She was scared, distraught, and preparing to take the abortion pill. It went against everything she had been taught growing up in the Church, but crisis has a way of making fear feel louder than faith.

She wanted to live the life her daddy had always dreamed for her. She just could not see how to get there from where she was standing.

She texted Ember Rising and scheduled an abortion assessment. Then fear took over, and she canceled.

But one phone call from our CEO created a pivot.

She took a breath and said, “Yes, I will be there.”

Her pregnancy test was negative, but her need for support did not disappear.

Now, she comes to Ember Rising every week and spends an hour with her coach working on her identity, self-love, and healthy ways to manage the crisis surrounding her.

She has become part of our family. And somewhere along the way, we became the big sisters she needed, women who listen, encourage her, speak truth, and remind her that her life still has purpose.

This is what Ember Rising does.

We do not simply meet a woman in one difficult moment and send her back into the same crisis alone. We walk with her. We help her rediscover who she is. We stay, even when the pregnancy test is negative.

Because sometimes the life that needs saving is the one sitting right in front of us.

No shame. No judgment. Just truth, love, and a family willing to walk beside her.

Amy lost everything in an electrical fire.

Her landlord helped with one week in a hotel, and the Red Cross covered a few additional days. But when you have a good job and normally hold everything together, it can be incredibly difficult to receive help when your whole world suddenly falls apart.

Amy works in nursing. She spends her days caring for and serving others. She is not someone who asks for help, but today, she needs us.

Amy has kinship/momma of four little ones, ages four, five, eight, and just six months old. She is their one source of stability. Kinship placement is supposed to come with financial support, but when September 1st came, there was nothing. Her next paycheck will not come until Friday, and after spending an entire day waiting at DCF for answers about money already owed to her, hope is beginning to feel very far away.

On top of it all, Amy is 12 weeks pregnant.

When everything becomes this heavy, abortion can enter a woman’s mind as a way to survive the crisis. Ember Rising is walking beside Amy so that abortion remains only a thought not the option she feels forced to choose because she cannot see another way forward.

This is our opportunity to be the hands and feet of Christ.

Amy has spent her life serving others. Now it is our turn to serve her and help provide stability for the children who depend on her. Every donation, no matter how small, can help with a hotel room, food, transportation, clothing, and other immediate necessities.
